Rolling from back to tummy

I am trying to get my LO to sleep in the crib but she started rolling from back to tummy last week. Now, when I lay her in the crib she instantly rolls to her tummy and gets stuck since she hasn't figured out how to roll back. Any advice on how to keep her from rolling? Do I just wait it out until she learns to roll back over and restart the transition? The rolling has kind of put a stop to the crib transition.

If she's not upset when she rolls to her tummy, just let her sleep that way. Once they can roll, there's nothing you can do about it and it's safe at that point to just let her sleep that way.  My LO has been sleeping on his tummy since he was 3 months old.

My LO does the same thing. She sleeps on her belly now. If I flipped everytime she rolled it would be a constant battle with no sleep. Her pedi says it's fine.

Once they start rolling, you can't really stop them. It's a new thing they've learned and they will keep doing it because it's fun. Lots of babies get upset when they get to their tummy because they feel stuck and it WILL interupt everyone's sleep but it's just another phase they go through :)

She does get upset when she is on her belly...yet, that is all she does the entire day. =) She has never liked tummy time. Is it just something she will get used to? On the few occasions that she has fallen asleep on her tummy, she has slept better.

My guy does this too. I have a question about what to do when he rolls over and whines. Do I just leave him and let him cry until maybe he falls asleep on his tummy? He has never slept on his tummy before so not sure if he will. Or do I keep going in and turning him over?

you could try those sleep positioners, but once mine started rolling, she also started wiggling her way out of those. creeping up and out, then she would roll anyway. she eventually got used to sleeping on her belly. best of luck.

Julymommy12-  I am stumped on that one too! Not sure how long to let her lay in there crying and whining. I feel like I wait forever now, even though it's probably only a few minutes. As soon as I roll her back over she rolls again, so that isn't working. I wish I could read her mind =)

I got so fed up turning him over that I rolled up towels all around him and that keeps him in place but I feel like I'm a bad mother for doing this as everything says not to have anything in the crib and its preventing him from really learning to sleep on his own.

My LO hated being on his tummy and when he started rolling in his crib, he hated then as well. I think babies feel stuck and that upsets them. Once he got used to it, he loved sleeping on his tummy and that's how he sleeps every night. It's a new thing for them but they usually get over it :)

Our pediatrician actually recommended the towels UNDER the sheet and it worked for about a month until he got too strong and rolled right over the towels!

I would say he was about 5 months old. The towels only worked for about 2 weeks and then he started rolling right over the top of them and onto his tummy. It was such a pain for about 3-4 days because he would roll onto his tummy then wake up and cry but I realized there was nothing I could do about it anymore and had to just suffer through.

DD is the same. As soon as I lay her down pretty much anywhere she rolls over right away. Pedi said it's better for her anyway and sleeping on her tummy is perfectly fine. In fact, it's really helped with her gas issues too.
