I can't believe it took this long

Char said her first swear word. In perfect English she said, "Why did the girl say, 'Take off thr damn mask and look at me' in the Spiderman movie?"

I was taken a bit aback by that. I told her it was a mean word and she used it because she was angry. "When I'm angry I can say damn?"

Mom fail.

My DH and I love your Char stories. I don't ever tell him about anything on TB except for these little gems. As soon as I start to read something he knows its a "Char Story".

My mom always told me swear words were only for people over the age of 18.  This way she got to curse like a sailor and I still had to be good.

One of my daughters, who are 18 months by the way, was saying good night tonight and my friend was over. She looked at her and said, "night night, fvcker". I have never laughed harder, by the way, my friend's name is Catherine so I have no clue how fvker sounds the same. Now I just have to wait for her to say it to her Grandma.

It's probably not good then that my not even 16 month old yelled "***!" when he couldn't get his toy out of the crib.  And then stomped out of his room all angry.

He also randomly says, "Damn" while tugging on his penis.  I'm not looking forward to him being a teenager.

Surprisingly for my niece and nephew, SIL told them that those are words for grown ups and not for kids.

It worked.

To me, telling a kid that would make them want to say it more. LOL

Too funny! Thankfully we missed this stage with J, but she does drop "bloody 'ell" and "bugger" sometimes. Those are the swear words in our house.

I've never posted here but I was lurking and some of the stories remind me of the time I took my niece shopping with me.  She was about 5 or 6 at the time, and she's mostly raised by her grandmother but I am sort of like her second mom. I have no idea where she heard this phrase. We were in the fitting room at JC Penney (with other women in other stalls who could clearly hear everything that was said).  I was trying on some clothes and she was playing with a doll. Out of nowhere, she nonchalantly said, "I think I'm going to name my baby douche bag!"

I was mortified, and I did NOT want to walk out of that fitting room.

LOL. I had to send DS to his room so he could get his fill of "piss ant" once. He just said it over and over and then came back down. For the most part we just have to say that he can't say that word and then ignore it, because giving him any kind of attention tends to exacerbate things.

lol! Could have been a worse word! My DH accidentally said s*** in front of my cousin's 4 year old, so her mom told her to tell me that DH had said a "shame shame" word and instead, she just told me the actual word...clear as day!
