How far apart do you want your children? With my new intro

If you are planning on having more than one child, how far apart would you like them to be spaced?

I tried to make it a poll, but for some reason it wouldn't let me...

Also, I have posted an intro here before, but it's been a while so...

I'm Christy. I'm 23 and I have a 2 month old little boy. I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy, so now I am waiting for about one more month to be tested for Type II diabetes. I have babies on the brain already, but I would like my children to be between one and three years apart, so no TTC for me yet,and if I test positive for Type II, that puts a damper on TTC for a longer while.

3 years apart for me.
I had baby fever after my son was born and he was sleeping better but knew it would be best to wait. 3 weeks ago my niece was born and I saw how little she was and how fast my LO had grown. Definitely cured my baby fever fast! He was STTN and his personality was coming through. He gets more fun everyday! Not ready for the newborn stage again.

My DS is 28 months and we won't be trying until a few months before he is 4, so he will be close to 5 when LO will be born. I'd like them a little closer, but I want to be med free and I am still recovering from really bad PPD/PPA. We also cannot pay for 2 in day care. DS will be heading to school at 5...so he will be free. LO 2 will be with me for a while. Babies are on my brain all the time though... I have such a long wait!!!

PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps... Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Lilypie Breastfeeding tickers

I would like mychildren to be 2 and a half to 3 years apart. right after labor with DD i was on an adrenaline high and couldnt wait to have another one, but that quickly passed. It wasnt until recently that i really wanted another one. We actually officially start TTC after this cycle, DD will be 20 months.

when my niece was born, DD had just turned one. Seeing how she handled it at first made me glad i waited. Gradually DD has softened and become obssessed with her, which greatly has eased my mind about having another.

My parents had their children four years apart, and I loved it growing up. I am four years older than my brother and eight years older than my sister. I think I would like to have my kids three to five years apart.

My SO is one of seven kids. He has a couple siblings much older and a few that are spaced less than a year. He likes the mid range of spacing better as well.

Our kids are 2.5 years apart and I honestly can't imagine having kids closer together than that.  It's so nice for DS to be able to be somewhat independent when DD needs so much help.

There are also medical reasons to consider waiting.

We are not sure if we will want to have two children yet, but if we decide to I want to wait until our first is either almost or completely potty trained, so maybe wait around 2.5 years after the first.

We don't have kids yet, and we're not sure how many we'd like to have just yet (at least 3) but I don't want the oldest to be more than 8 years older than the youngest.

I wanted my children to all be 2-3 years apart. That didn't work out though. Our first angel baby died 10 years ago, we have a 6 year old, a 4 year old and have been TTC unsuccessfully now, so it's looking like if we do get pregnant this next year, our youngest and middle will be 5 years apart.

I guess I'll be the crazy here - my girls are just shy of 19 months apart. Both were planned. We decided we'd rather get through the baby phase, diapers, bottles, sleep deprivation, etc., in a fairly short time period instead of waiting several years in between and starting all over. We don't regret the spacing of these two at all, and if we had to do it over would make the same decision.

However, hypothetical #3 would be 2-2.5 years younger than DD2. We've had some major life changes besides a new baby in the last year or so and haven't decided whether we want a third.

I'm not really sure. I guess I never really thought about it that way, DH and I think about it more from a "when does it feel right" perspective. But I would like them close in age if possible. My mom and her sister are 10 mo 10 days apart and they were in the same grade growing up. I thought that was pretty cool.

But the flip side of that means that my grandmother was pregnant again just over a month after having my mom. So that sucks.

If we decide to have two or more I'm thinking a span of 3-4 years between each. My thing is I want the first one to be out of diapers before the second one gets here. Right now I'm still concentrating on trying for number 1 though.

I have kids spaced one year apart (12.5 months part, to be exact). I really have loved everything about that spacing. My second pregnancy was a breeze since I got to rest a lot with an infant that wasn't mobile/napped 3+ times a day. When the baby was born, he was too young to experience jealousy and hasn't ever in nearly 2 years. We have one set of toys out they both play with instead of trying to hide toys with small parts from the younger child. They play together constantly and are attached at the hip.

We're starting TTC this summer so I don't have any babies yet. We want 2 kids pretty close together.

I'm 32 now so we've already talked about trying to have them pretty close together so I'm not very far past 35 when #2 comes. Reality will dictate when I actually get pregnant, and medical concerns or getting pregnant again will play in of course.

In my family we were very spread out (sis is 5.5 years older, brother is 8.5 years younger!) That had some awesome outcomes, but doesn't seem practical for us given how late we're starting.

I never thought about the benefits of having them so close together. My mom adopted (she had endometriosis and tried really hard to get pregnant), and my brother (not biological) and I are 11 months apart. We were best friends growing up.

My husband is the oldest of 7 (and he has a twin sister), and the farthest apart my MIL had her babies I think was a little bit more than 2 years.

I want at least 4 children, but no more than 7, so I'm not sure how to work that all out.

There are a few things that I'd like to have done/accomplished before I have my next baby: I'd like to own a house, I'd like to be healthy and in shape, and I'd also like a new car (our car right now will not fit two babies). I'd also like Joey to be the baby for a while before I'd even be pregnant with LO2.

Thank you ladies for all of your responses! So fun getting to know you all a little better!

My first two are 16 months apart.  It has lots of pros and cons, but I am happy with how it turned out.

We are talking about TTC #3 and if it goes well, the baby will likely be 3.5-4 years younger than my DS.  This is less than ideal to me (I think 2.5-3 years would be better), but our family needed some time to regroup after my husband's deployment.
