NBR: The Hobbit (Spoilers)

Geek PALers, what did you think?! I went with DH and our friend, and neither of them knew it was going to be three movies (I guess they've been living under rocks), so they were a little disappointed that there wasn't more Smaug. While I did appreciate that PJ was trying to tell a really rich story, there was still stuff that felt like fluff (so much Radagast with bird *** on his head I couldn't even FOCUS).

But I loved Bofur. And Bilbo. And dwarves singing. And fifteen seconds of sexy, smug elven Lee Pace. And a whole lot else besides.

"You can go back and see days that are dead and gone, a hundred thousand sunsets ago. No wonder you never stay still." "Not a bad life." "Better with two."

I thought it was good. I knew that it is a 3 part series just like LOTR. I'm not a complete geek for the movies but it was enjoyable. Ididntfeel there was really any fluff

I am kindof a Tolkien snob/purist, so I really hated a lot of the added stuff. I also don't like that they are making three movies. I could see two, but three seems a little excessive. Radagast was not necessary. The singing was fantastic though, and the dwarves were great (there could have been more beards though).

It's been a long time since I read the book, but yeah, they are really having to work to get three movies out of it. I'm also of the opinion that there can ALWAYS be more beards!

Agreed! lol

It bugged me a little that Thorin looked more like a short human than a dwarf. A fairly handsome human, but still. Now I'm just nitpicking though. At least Gollum was still as good as ever.
