Please let this be a phase.

LO has been a great little sleeper from day 1. The last week ish, she will only sleep on me, or beside me. She is so tired so I let her, and thankfully it's been only during the day. Anyone else go through this? Did I just start a bad habit? I'm enjoying the cuddle time, but I want her to be able to sleep on her own too.

I don't think it's bad.  My DR said that they go from being held 24/7 inside you and then to only like 12 hours and that's a huge drop for them.  E loves being held to sleep, but he can also sleep on his own. When he is really tired and falls asleep when I am holding him, I leave him.  I love the extra cuddles too.  I'll be really sad when he doesn't want to be held.

I've read that you can't create bad habits until they're older - so I don't think you started a bad habit.  I'm sure it's probably just a phase she's going through - at least it's just during the day. :)  My LO did this for a few days last week (when she was around 4.5 weeks - I see your LO is 4 weeks), but she's been better with sleeping in her bouncer/swing this week.  Hang in there! :)

LOs at this age aren't smart enough to manipulate yet. Their wants/needs are very basic. Probably just looking for some security. Do you remember growing pains from when you were small? All these changes are hard work for them.

We went through the same thing. I loved the cuddle time, but sometimes needed a break, you know, to go to the bathroom or eat a granola bar!

I started swaddling A in a micro fleece halo sleep sak. It really retains warmth and I think it feels like we are still holding him.

baby girl is the exact same way except she does it day and night, so hubby and i take turns staying semi awake while she sleeps on our chests at night

She's currently napping in her bed, in a sleep sack.. For the last 3.5 hours... I feel like doing a victory dance! I left her with her dad, who also napped, and went to a movie.. Feeling so much better.
Thanks for the reassurance that I'm not creating bad habits, and not the only one.
