I think i'm farther along then my Dr. thinks

I am 14 weeks today as it goes by my doctor but i have noticed that i am a lot bigger then most people at 14 weeks. Now I haven't gained much weight my stomach is just big. I have the symptoms of a 15-16 weeks. I don't know i am just a little confused i guess. Does anyone else think this or might have a reason why. Don't get me wrong i love that i am pregnant and it doesn't matter how far along i am i just want to make sure i am doing what i am supposed to for this baby. -

How was your EDD determined? Have you had an u/s?

I did but it was really early in the pregnancy. Also they had to already move up the due date.

The early u/s are most accurate for dating purposes. I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone shows differently and has different symptoms.

Your uterus could be bigger, but have 14 week baby in it.  I'm bigger than some of the moms on my board even though they're further along.  If you already had a u/s for dating, then I would go by that date.  At your 18-20 week u/s, they'll do more measurements of the baby to reassure your due date.

If it makes you feel better, I'm one of those people who show ridiculously early. My mom and I joke, since she was this way too, that we start showing at conception. I'll be 21 weeks on Sunday, but very easily could pass for much further along. I'd also trust that early dating ultrasound.

I didn't have a dating u/s and my Dr thought I could be as much as 4 weeks ahead of where they had me at my 16 week appt because of how I was measuring.  Turns out at the a/s, she was measuring 3 days behind where they had me (which is normal because at 20 weeks babies are growing a much different rates than they were at 8 weeks) so we stuck with the original EDD...

I guess I take after my mom, who measured ahead of schedule with all of her pregnancies but had 2 babies (me and my brother) 3 and 2 weeks past our due dates.

Like PPs have said, the early U/S is probably the best thing to trust.

The early the better to determine the date. I am surprised they moved you up from an early u/s. the baby wil come when they are worried I wouldn't get caught up in a weeks difference anyway.

The early ultrasounds are the most accurate.  When I had the 20 week ultrasound the date went from the 23rd to the 18th, but I was told that at that point the estimate is less accurate.

Ditto what others have said. The early ultrasounds are the most accurate. After about 8 weeks, babies start growing at different rates and it's much harder to determine date of conception. DD always measured two weeks ahead after 18w, but she was just a big baby. The early ultrasound measured her properly and I wasn't any further along than the original ultrasound said.

People show differently. Chillax.

What are the "symptoms" of 15-16 weeks (vs 14 weeks?)

I would personally trust your doctor especially if you've had an u/s or know when you ovulated. Some women measure bigger or smaller than others.

I was wondering the same thing.  I am not sure how symptoms of 15-16 differ significantly from 14 weeks as everybody is different.  There is no set schedule for symptoms.  I am 18 weeks and barely showing, I am showing less than I was with my first at 18 weeks, it just really varies by woman and by pregnancy.

There is nothing you would need to do different at 15 or 16 weeks than you would at 14 weeks.

If the size of my bump had anything to do with how far along I was - I would of given birth a month ago. I have only gained 30 lbs (I am 40 weeks pregnant) and look like I am carrying twins - also they stopped using a tape measure to estimate the babies size because I was always 3-4 weeks ahead. I also had an U/S very early on (5w 6d) and swore they were off, but since then I have had two other U/Ss and every time I get the same EDD. Also my symptoms never matched up with the "week by week" guide. For instance I could feel LO move at 17 weeks, and my SO could feel him from the outside at 18/19 weeks (which added to me thinking I was further along) but here I am at 40 weeks and still very pregnant. As far as doing what you are supposed to be doing - it doesnt really change during your pregnancy, you always have to eat right, take pre-natals and avoid alcohol, smoke, etc. You are fine.

Some people just show differently. With DS I always looked more pregnant than I really was, and we were positive about the dates because we did IVF to have him. The symptoms for 14 weeks should be the same as 15-16 weeks. If you had an early dating u/s I would go by that. In the end it doesn't really matter because some babies come early and some come late. Your due date is just an estimate anyway.

The size of your belly isn't an accurate way to determine how far along you are -- what your bump looks like depends on your body, your posture, and how your baby is positioned.

If you mean that your baby measured bigger at an ultrasound that might be an indicator..

I'm not sure what symptoms are specific to 15-16 weeks that aren't applicable to 14 weeks.. my impression is that all the symptoms of pregnancy are kind of squishy date-wise. Women have muscle pain, morning sickness, and even start feeling their babies move at different times.

If you had an ultrasound between 6 and 12 weeks I would be most inclined to trust the dating that occurred then.

I wouldn't trust your doctor who did an u/s. He is most certainly wrong. Just follow your gut.
