austenreader85:Glad it went well! You should post pics of before and after!
Also, do you have some kind of motivation secret you used on your DH? I'm lucky if we get one small thing accomplished on his days off.
No. DH just doesn't sit still. It is made worse by any kind of deadline. Like Christmas. Christmas is a deadline. Since there is nothing in particular that needs to be doen by Christmas, he has to make up something to be done by the deadline. He enjoys tension.
Haha, are you married to my father? He loves nothing better than creating sawdust and tracking it through his house merely hours before my mom starts preparing for something. He once decided to build built-in bookcases in their living room the week my sister got married. He thought it would look nice at the brunch my mom was hosting the day after the wedding. It did, but in the process my mom nearly had a nervous breakdown!
Ahhh....sounds like my FIL. It is his idea of helping and he's totally oblivious to the fact that it's not and the timing is awful. Except there's about 10,000 other things involving ego that go along with that. He's already putting on his fake Christmas persona. I hate it. I'm assuming your dad actually understands a deadline. FIL does not even though he owns a plumbing, heating and electrical business. Every time he starts to build something for us or the house he gets about 2 hours into it, needs another part and doesn't touch it for 2 weeks-12 years (such as restoring the Model A he bought for "DH to drive to prom- he bought it 2 years ahead so he could work on it- still in storage.)
