Also, do you put some kind of cream on w/ every single diaper change?  thanks

We use Triple paste. I don't use it every time I change his diaper, just when he has a poopy diaper.

The nurses used Vaseline while we were at the hospital. So we do the same at home now.

We are using Aquaphor. So far it's the only thing that works. I've tried boudreauxs and California babies as well. Similar to Vaseline. In fact I couldn't tell you the difference in the products.

We use CJ's BUTTer & the Grovia Magic Stick.  I love the magic stick because I don't have to get it on my hands.  CJ's is nice too because it comes in lots of different scents (since you said you don't like the smell of A&D).

I use them because they're cloth diaper safe, but no reason you couldn't use them with disposables!

I cloth diaper part time so we use California baby diaper cream because it's cloth diaper compatible. I've also used coconut oil which works great. I never use creams unless I notice his skin is starting to look irritated.

Our baby is still really new, but we're using Grandma El's (which is nice and thin and smells like strawberries) and Earth Mama Angel Baby butt cream (which I haven't used bc DH has done all the diapes at this diaper station in our house). I got them both because the ingredients are mostly natural and they are cloth diaper safe.

Generally speaking, you only need cream if the skin is starting to become irritated. You don't need it every time. In fact, if you use a thicker paste that sticks to the skin you shouldn't completely wipe it off every time because the act of more vigorously wiping the skin could cause breakdown.

I would never use vaseline all the time, only for the first week or so with the first black poops. Vaseline does not let the skin breath. If anything, only it if there is a rash and you need a barrier for tender skin.

I use Earth Mother Angel Baby bum balm. I love it and it can be used with every diaper change. It is also good for cloth diapers.

There is no reason to use anything unless there is a rash.

DD2 didn't have any kind of cream or whatever until she was 1. No rash, no cream.

The last thing an itty bitty newborn needs is all kind of crap rubbed all over their diaper area for no reason. Their skin is so sensitive and delicate, no need to use it just in case.

DD is allergic to the zinc oxide in most creams so we use vasaline maybe everyother time we change her. It works great.

Burt's Bees has an ointment that kind of reminds me of Aquafor, but not so greasy and with no petroleum products so the skin can still breathe. I generally use it before bed when I know he will go longer between diaper changes and if he starts to get a little red. He hasn't had a rash since he came home from the hospital at 3 days old.

I don't use any creams or anything unless it is starting to look like he is getting a rash. Then I use that monkey butt paste stuff. Usually by his next diaper change, the rash is gone.
