Entertain?

Ok, at the risk of sounding like a crap mom, I am at a loss of what to do with C when she's awake. I was so glad she slept all day yesterday because when she's awake I don't do a very good job of entertaining her. She gets fussy when I put her down in her swing, same with her crap activity mat it's a hand me down from my sister and it's missing lots of parts. I'm hoping for a new one for Xmas. If not I'll buy a new one. I sing some songs to her and she likes that, but I don't seem to remember many and I get bored. She seems to get bored with books. I've tried to practice her tracking skills with a couple of toys. She hates the stroller and car seat so I can't go anywhere with her. Help? Do I need to just persevere with the car seat and stroller? I feel like a prisoner in the house, but I hate to hear her scream and not be able to comfort her because I'm driving.

It's really hard at first. You definitely need to persevere with the carseat. You can't be trapped for a year. How is she in a sling? You could opt for that instead of a stroller. And google kids songs and relearn them. Or put on a kids station on pandora for a refresher course. Dd1s faves are twinkle twinkle, old macdonald, bingo, itsy bitst bspider and hands down all time favorite, put it on repeat is baby beluga.

It's a bummer she is fussy alot, hopefully she outgrows that. Just keep doing a little bit until she cries then soothe her and do a few other things.

And for the play mat, we had a simple one bar which dd destroyed and I'm not getting a new one. But, we hung extra toys from it with those linky rings. Carseat toys are good options to hang on those bars. I wouldn't buy a new one since it will only last a few months, but that's just me being cheap.

There's also hickory dickory dock, head, shoulders, knees and toes, you are my sunshine, john jacob jingleheimerschmidt. Try doing ones that have actions or make up your own. Maybe even try incorporating her into the actions by bouncing her at certain parts, lifting her at other parts, etc.

As for books...Hallie didn't like them until recently...she's 8 weeks. Once she started enjoying laying in her swing and crib alone then she started liking them.

Alot of what you're saying is exactly how Hallie was and she's just slowly outgrown those things. Like screaming in her carseat.

DS likes the bouncy seat, ours has a little vibration in it. Also, we dance to entertain his big sister, but his favorite at this age is just talking to him and looking at him. Walks will get easier as they get older, but keep persevering.

How old is your LO? B is only 3.5 weeks and he just recently came out of his 'newborn coma', so he has some more awake time during the day. And I too have no idea what to do. He seems so young for everything. He just has wide eyes and stares at the lights in the house. I sing to him and move his arms and legs. He hates tummy time too. Will that get easier? We have all these toys for 0 months, but he's so young, I'm like, what do you do? Just hand it to him and see what he does? Weather permitting, we do usually go for a walk in the stroller every day. But he tends to sleep the whole time. Which I'm totally fine with. Any tips are appreciated!
