Anyone with gallbladder troubles?

Hey everyone! I'm a FTM and my OB has referred to my pregnancy as "very low-risk" thus far. However, Saturday night I was hit with the most painful (what I thought was a) stomach virus of my life... and now it's seeming to be more of a gallbladder thing.

Anyone else dealing with gallbladder issues? Know of any good remedies? I've been sleeping like mad, but the pain and bloating isn't really going anywhere... I'm about to take myself to the ER to see what's up.

TIA for any input!

I had my gallbladder removed years ago.  You can avoid foods you know will trigger it, and try to eat a low fat diet.  While in a flare, I was told there's not much you can do except take some pain killers.  I also found walking helpful.

If you have gallstones, there are drugs you can take, but probably not during pregnancy.  From what I've seen they may do surgery during pregnancy, but only if your gallbladder is getting inflamed, otherwise they may try to control with diet.  Definitely go get checked out!   I know how bad it hurts ((hugs))

I developed gallbladder issues a week aftere my c/s last pregnancy. Pregnancy is a big trigger for gallbladder problems, so it's somewhat common. I have IBS and other GI issues, but the pain was different and so intense, so I went to the ER. It turns out that I did have gallstones and followed up with surgery after that. But b/c the pain subsided and I didn't have another attack, I never had it removed. They did say that if I have the pain and another attack, it's imperative that I get to the ER asap since you can develop severe infections or other problems from it. Apparently rapid weight gain/loss is a trigger too. I will try to eat very lowfat, bland foods after this pregnancy to help prevent it from happening again. If you are still in pain, I'd go into the ER. Hope all eases up soon!

If it is your gall bladder they can't do much this late in pregnancy.  Stick to a healthy diet.  When I got GD my attacks stopped because I wasn't eating anything to trigger it.  Had the worst one of my life a week after DS2 was born.  Had mine removed when he was 1 month old.  The surgery didn't interfere with BFing and I am a lot happier now.

I had mine out before I was pregnant with DS and I'm so glad I did. I agree with PP to avoid fatty foods and it wasn't so bad. Hopefully you are able to keep it in check with diet until your LO arrives. Gallbladder pain was the worst. So horrible!!

I had an issue with my gallbladder for several years before I had my first DD and then again 10 months after I had my first DD. One night I had horrible pains worst than child birth IMO. My hubby took me to the ER and they gave me morphine for the pain. I ended up staying in the hospital for a week, my gallbladder was not working and I had a gallstone stuck in my bile duct, which they had to remove. Two years later I still have issues with eating food. Anything to rich or fatty goes right through me. If the pain is unbearable I would head to the ER, but if you can deal then try to rest, drink lots of water and stay away from fatty foods.

Good luck.

Had my first gall bladder attack at 18 weeks pregnant and just had my 2nd attack at 30 weeks.  They have scheduled to take my gall bladder out 6 weeks after my c-section so my uterus has time to shrink up and get out of their way.  I've had to maintain a low fat, low grease diet and now I have GD again so low carb as well.  Yeah I'm 30 weeks and have gained 2 lbs this whole pregnancy LOL  I want a DQ blizzard hardcore!

Idk if you can do anything about it while pregnant, but I had bad attacks after the birth of my daughter. Horrible pain!! I know eating fatty or fried foods made it worse. Carbonation too. Hope you feel better!
