Infant daycare in Philadelphia

Hi, new to the community! My husband and I are TTC and since we have been reading about the ridiculous waiting lists, we wanted to look into day care ASAP.

We live in the Fairmount/Art Museum area but we are flexible as I work in University City. Most places seem to be around $1600 a month and have long waits.

Any recommendations? Are we really going to have to pay $1600 a month? Are there other options? Unfortunately, staying home is definitely not one of them.

Why dont you try Just Children. I think they have a few centers in the area. I heard they are excellent!

I chose to keep my infant home the first year. I found a great girl on care.com for $10, now paying $12 an hour. She comes to my home and is wonderful with my son. I know some people do a nanny share to keep costs lower. Maybe that's a possibility?

Have fun good luck conceiving! I am new to Philadelphia and live in the Fairmont Park/East Falls area. I am due in May, but not expecting to need childcare until October.I have been looking for infantcare centers, but would much rather prefer a nanny. To cut cost, I'd be open to a sharing a nanny.
