Stroller Question

DH and I decided to go look at strollers today. We haven't really looked at any other baby products yet, but got caught up in researching them online, and felt we had to go try them in the store. The three we looked at and are considering (as of today) are:

1) UppaBaby vista

2) Baby Jogger City Select

3) Orbit G2

I am looking for something that is practical, folds easily and is fairly light for going in and out of the care. DH likes the Orbit, he is a gadget guy, and likes that it's modern look and features. The City Select is nice because it easily converts to a double stroller if we have a second in the next 2-3 years.

 I am wondering

1) Does anyone have any specific experience with any of these? Good or bad?

2) Have STMs found that buying a stroller that can convert to a double for your second is helpful, or that you just wanted to get a new stroller by that time anyway.

 3) At what age does LO grow out of the stroller?

We have the baby jogger city select. I really like our stroller. I'd definitely buy it again or recommend it to a friend. We have a 3.5 & 1.5 year old in it currently. My 3.5 year old is a bigger child, height and weight and she fits in it comfortably still. Now granted her head touches the canopy shade, but it doesn't bother her and she can still close it when she wants.

My only real complaint about it is that the stroller doesn't stand up when closed. My first stroller was a Graco travel system type and I liked that if I was taking it out of the car, it stood up while still closed. The Baby Jogger doesn't have that option, so it just has to lie on whatever ground you are on while you get the seats out and such. Not a deal breaker to me, but check it out next time you are at the store and you'll see what I mean.

We've flown with ours and it literally comes into pieces in a matter of a minute or two for easy travel (we gate checked it in it's travel bag. I have used it with the infant attachment and that was a breeze. I did have one issue making sure I had it in correct, I emailed them, they had me email a photo of what I had it set up like and then emailed me back right away with how to fix what I had done. Great customer service. I also like how the stroller can be configured into a number of different seating positions.

As baby #3 approaches, we are having to reconsider our different car seats for our van and family of 7, but our stroller is not something we've had to worry about needing something different.

I have the City Select as well.  I bought and returned 3 other strollers before buying and keeping the Select.

I like that every time I get it out I can decide if I want a single or double.  I like the resale value on the Select!  I don't like that it doesn't stand up.  I don't like the way it lies in my van when folded.

I would buy it again.  I recomend it to friends who either need or will later need a double.  I really loved the varied seat configurations.  I like my babies to face me 'till they are sitters.  With the Select my toddler could sit in front and my baby could lie flat facing me.  That was awesome.  I will have the most need for the seat with the next baby being only 16 months from DS.

The only one of those three that I wouldn't buy is the Orbit. My first stroller (Maxi Cosi Foray) had to be taken apart to fold and it was kind of a pain in the butt. I bought a new one (Mamas & Paps Sola) that I can fold with the seat on and even though it can be heavy, I much prefer it.

If the City Select had been available when I was pregnant with DS I would've bought it because I love the option of converting it to a double (not a fan of the Uppababy rumble seat). As it turns out our kids will be almost 4 years apart (not by our choice) so that ended up being a non-issue. But to do it all over again, I'd get the City Select.

I am an Orbit fan, even though we do not have one. We have a Stokke Xplory. I just love the modern strollers and all they have to offer.

My SIL has the City Select and LOVES it. Her only complaint is that it does not stand up when folded, like previous person wrote. But it's nice that you have the option of a single or double.

Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own! Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers
