soft cups for TTC?

So I've been googling around and stumbled onto a number of TTC boards where women swear by using soft cups to TTC. This seems a little odd and probably unnecessary to me... but maybe I'm missing something. Has anyone heard of/done this before?

By way of explanation - soft cups are those cups you can wear against your cervix during AF to catch everything (some are reusable) and some women apparently put them in right after BDing to keep the swimmers near their cervix for 12 hours or so.

I was just surprised because I thought I'd read it all... but this was new and apparently somewhat popular...

It's totally unnecessary, like a lot of things people try to get KU faster.

 
TTC on and off since April 2007. IUI#1 (50mg Clomid + Trigger) 3/14. BFP 3/25 at 11dpo. No heartbeat at 8 weeks on 4/26, D&C 4/27. IUI #2 7/22 (50mg Clomid +Trigger)= CP. IUI #3 8/16 = BFN. IUI#4 9/14= BFN. IVF#1 started 10/31; cancelled 11/15. New clinic; 1st visit 12/26. IVF #1 (take 2) cancelled. IVF#1 (take 3)Feb. 2013! 2/9/13 ER = 25 eggs. 24 M/22F. 5dt (SET)2/14. 2/25= BFP! Beta 372!

I need some sort of a program that will just automatically give a thumbs-up to everything DebateThis posts.  Yes

The theory is that it will keep the sperm in there.  But honestly, any that are going to make it will have already gotten to where they need to go.  I mean, I guess it couldn't hurt, but I doubt there's any merit to it.

PAIF/SAIF, PGAL/PAL welcome.
TTC since March 2010 ~ Dx Unexplained IF September 2011
2011: IUI + Clomid = CP#1
2012: 3 more IUIs + Clomid = 3 more CPs. One on-our-own pg, also CP
2013: BTB IUI + Lupron/Follistim/Prometrium/PIO = CP #6
IF testing, RPL testing, Autoimmune testing = all normal
So lost.

BFP #2 - Nacho - 10/14/12, EDD 6/20/13, MMC 8 weeks, D&C 11/16/12
All testing shows both H and I are perfectly normal. Baby Nacho had triploidy.
Back to normal business December 2012
BFP #3 - Froggy - 1/15/13, EDD 9/27/13

I don't think so raven.  The cup is inserted into your vag right up against your cervix.  A UTI is caused by stuff hanging out near your peehole (technical term), which is why they say you should pee after sex to get rid of all of that, and why hanging out in bed for an hour after sex might not be a good idea.  I don't think a cup would do any harm though.  Still, I'm pretty sure it's not going to do any good either!

Thanks for the anatomy lesson, red. Didn't realize that's why you got UTI's. I'm always a pee right after sex gal.

Still. Seems kinda icky. Talk about total squish drawers the next day.

Ps squish drawers. Also a totally legit medical term

haha seems to answer it all! 
August 2012 discovered I was gluten intolerant on the journey to get off meds to be TTC, immediately lost weight with my new Paleo lifestyle (40lbs). Dec 2012 had tubal but didn't lose a tube. Discovered endo, adhesions, and cysts. Clean up surgery in March '13. Avoiding TTC until May then start clomid and our TTC.2.0, with trigger shot, journey. Eager to begin.....
