Not STTN anymore....wth

DD started sleeping a good 7-8 hour stretch at night starting at about 5 weeks old. These past three weeks I'm lucky if she sleeps 4 hours straight. Typical pattern now is bedtime at 8, wakes up at 12:30, 4:00, 6:00 and then takes a first nap between 8 and 9. Even worse, her naps are rarely longer than an hour. I feel like my 2.5 year old is sleeping more than she is. Isn't she tired?!?!? Because I'm at the point where I want to start sleep training her.

Is she around 4 months old? If so, this sounds like the 4 month wakeful. It's basically the devil coming out in your child. I'm kidding! Kind of...

It's a short phase, it passes in a couple of weeks or so. It's not necessary to sleep train. I remember ds got up 15 times one night!

No advice, but I can commiserate.  LO is 5 months now and we are in wakeful/teething hell.  Tylenol helps her not wake up as much, but we still get up 2x's a night.  I read it can go on until around 6 or 7 months.

This. DS started his four month wakeful around 3.5 months. He went from sleeping 8pm-6am to waking up 4-5 times a night, then around 8 times, and just now he's down to just once a night at 4.5 months old. Your LO is definitely too young to sleep train at 3 months old. Recommended age is 6 months. If your baby is crying, it's because she needs you, so grab a coffee, a magazine, and rock your baby.

Is your LO waking up to eat or just waking up crying/fussy? DD stopped STTN when she got sick with a cold and it lasted a good two weeks (even though she was done her cold after the first week). I think at that point, she got used to eating at night since she would wake up once to eat at night and I would feed her. I then started giving her the soother when she woke up. On the nights that she would take the soother and go back to sleep then obviously I didn't feed her and on the nights that she would spit it out and was obviously hungry/awake or cranky, I would feed her. Since then we are now back to STTN but she still will sometimes wake up for the soother here and there and like before, if I believe she is hungry then I have no problem feeding her.

Good luck! I know with my first daughter, she started STTN at 9 weeks old and never regressed in her sleeping habits so I can understand it being tough especially when you get used to them STTN!
