Newborn eye contact?

Ok, FTM here but my LO doesn't keep eye contact. I read that she could be overstimulated and that's why she looks away. I do catch her looking at me when I'm holding her and not looking at her, though. I guess maybe I'm too animated when I talk to her and it's over stimulation? Anyone else have LOs with little eye contact?

don't read too much into that - newborns can't see very far in front of their faces yet. like you said - over stimulation may be an issue.

maybe just hold baby 6 inches from your face and don't say anything. see what she does...

ask your Dr next time you go

DS didn't make real eye contact w/me or MH until he was one month old.  As  a newborn, he would always just look right past us, or look at me cross-eyed.

This. My LO has started looking us in the eyes more and more these past two weeks maybe, but before that, he just stared off into nowhere. I wouldn't worry about it; there are new noises and colors and smells and all that good stuff for your baby to be experiencing right now.

As others have said, my LO didn't really seem to "look at" me until right around 3-4 weeks, and at 4-5 weeks would track my movement, and follow me with her eyes. Now at 6 weeks, I'm getting smiles.

My son didn't start making good eye contact until he was almost 8 weeks old. Now he is 4 months and he makes excellent eye contact. I was just like you though, worried about why he wouldn't look at me. It is true- your face is extremely over stimulating, Also, babies can't see well at that age anyway. Give it some time and pretty soon your LO will be staring at your face all day :)
