Toys poll:

How many toys do they have in your opinion? A normal amount, not enough, or an excessive amount?

Do you have a play room? Do you actually keep the toys in the play room? Do they spill into all areas of the house?

Do you rotate toys in & out? Or they're just all out to play with at any time?

How many toys do they have in your opinion? A normal amount, not enough, or an excessive amount?  In my opinion it's a normal amount, but everyone that comes over comments on how many she has and H is always complaining. I really don't want her to be one of those kids that has too much stuff and never learns to appreciate what she has, but I honestly don't even know what to do about it, she loves her stuff. I think I need to do a good purge.

Do you have a play room? Do you actually keep the toys in the play room? Do they spill into all areas of the house? We have a play room downstairs with lots of big stuff (we bought a huge mess of Thomas the Train stuff off of one of H's friends with the intention to sell it on ebay, but ended up keeping it all for Hadley, it's ridiculous what all we have Thomas for our little girl). Her room has a 8 hole storage shelf with 12x12 cubes for toys, and in the living room (where we are most of the time) has a big blob of toys beside the entertainment center. So, pretty much everywhere.

Do you rotate toys in & out? Or they're just all out to play with at any time?  I WANT to be a good mom that packs lots of them away to rotate them out occasionally but honestly? I'm lazy, and I forget to do it, so they're all out. I wish I could be organized and rotate them on a good schedule though, think it would be really good for her.

I think Lena has a pretty average amount. It seems like my friends' kids have way more to the point of excess, but Lena definitely has enough to play with.

We don't have a playroom, so all her stuff is in our living room. I really want our next house to have space for play.

We were going to rotate toys, but instead I just brought a bunch to my parents' house so when she goes there, she plays with those things. We are there at least once a week, so she gets plenty of use out of them.

We have a lot of toys, but I would consider the amount to be in a normal range.

We do not have a playroom. I just set up a new storage system in the living room with multiple bins. The toys are much more organized now. He also has a toy corner in his room, but those are used less often.

I have one of those huge Rubbermaid bins FULL of cars, animals, people, etc that I do rotate out. He received a ton of small hand-me-down toys like this, and there is no way that he needs 300 matchbox cars out all at once. Otherwise, I haven't been rotating out toys.

He has a pretty decent amount of toys.  I would say average. He definitely has plenty, though.

The kid LOVES his toys, so I don't rotate any out, because he plays with almost all of them.

His room is on the main floor, so he has alot of toys in there, some in the living room and the rest in the basement(its finished).

I wish we had a house big enough for a play room, especially on the same floor of his room, it would be awesome, but its just not in the cards right now.

1. A bit less than normal I would say. She has nowhere near the amount of toys of some other kids, but we don't have a shortage either. She's much more into things like bubbles, her tunnel, ball pit, castle tent, shaving cream as paint, puzzles, cars/tractors, sandbox, wagon etc. then she is actual toys. I'm probably the only mom excited for her LO to get toys for Christmas. She's bored or outgrowing what she's got.

2. Yes, we have a toyroom. We keep the bigger stuff down there. It's in our nicely finished basement, but H and I prefer to be upstairs and she too little to be left alone down there for more than two minutes so we have baskets in our LR and shelves in her room as well.

I don't rotate them in and out but I do rotate them from one area to another so she doesn't get bored. I also don't keep anything really low quality/she doesn't play with/is a half broken handmedown, we have multiples of etc.

Normal amount of toys, but accumulating at a record rate. Instead of selling old toys, next Christmas I would like to start picking out toys with DS to donate to less fortunate kiddos.

Yes we have a playroom. I use our formal living room as the playroom right now since we still have our family room on the other side for TV/sitting/etc. when DS and this baby are old enough the finished basement will become the play area. I'm tired of toys on the main floor everywhere!!!

I do not rotate toys. I pack them up in a storage thing much like you describe that keeps it contained for now. Ask me after Christmas tho...

An excessive amount. All her toys are in her room, and I try to limit the amount she has thrown around to 10 at one time.

I have a limited amount of organization going on in there to prevent mass catastrophe. All her stuffed animals are at the top of the utility rack in there, I have all her books in one of the dresser drawers, and all the misc. toys are in the toy bin. It helps a little, since she can only freely access the toy bin, and she has to ask for a stuffed animal, I try my best to keep her from throwing her books around all day long.

We probably have a normal amount but it often seems like too many. I'm not going to do anything about it though until #2 is older. We technically have a play room but she has toys spread all throughout the house. A majority of them are where they're supposed to be, though! And no, we don't rotate. She just plays with whatever is in the same room we are in and doesn't seem to mind doing that.

I think we have a normal amount. DH would so excessive

her toys are in living room and her bedroom and some in basement living room. I wish we had a play room. Our "spare/ 3rd bedroom" is the rabbits and he would chew up everything.

we keep them all out to play with whenever but she probably only plays with 1/4-1/2 of them.

A normal amount for being an American kid, though it'd be excessive anywhere else, I'm sure.

Do you have a play room? Do you actually keep the toys in the play room? Do they spill into all areas of the house?

We do not have a play room.  She has her toy box and play mat in the living room, and a few small toys and all books in her bedroom.  1-2 rotating toys in our room, too, for when she needs distraction while we get ready for work.

Do you rotate toys in & out? Or they're just all out to play with at any time?

They are all out all the time.  I DID just sort through and put a box of "YOUNG baby toys" in the attic to make room for her Christmas gifts.

DS I would say has a normal amount of toys, I've certainly seen kids with many many more toys. He got a TON for his bday and I gave him a couple at a time, but for Xmas we let him have it all.

He does have a playroom and everything stays in there. He will take a couple toys out throughout the day but everything goes back into the playroom at the end of the day. I like to keep things neat haha I will reorganize the playroom every couple days, depending on how messy it gets. He pretty much plays with ALL his toys so I don't feel the neat to rotate. He does have a bin of more babyish toys but even then he will take them out very once in a while. We have DS2 on the way so really no need in putting all the little toys away just yet.
