Diaper sizes...

I have  a ton of newborn sized diapers that people gave me as a gift.  Do you think I need to buy some bigger ones too?  I mean I guess I can have them on hand in case right?

Yes, I'd have some size 1s on hand too.. your baby might be in size 1s sooner than you think!

Most stores will let you exchange them for a bigger size if they are unopened. With DS I was surprised how quickly we went to size 1 from newborn. This time I have a few small packages if newborns but I've already started stocking up on 1's and 2's.

We used very few newborn diapers. Like maybe one package.

I have size NB, 1 and 2. As PP said, they are really easy to exchange as long as they are unopened. We were surprised that DS stayed in NBs for quite a while but only wore 1s for a very short time. This time I am not getting the huge boxes of the smaller sizes. We ended up with half used boxes of 1s and 2s because he would just all of a sudden need the next size.

We have a box and a small package of NB, 2 boxes of size 1 and a box of size 2 I believe. I got them on super sale during Black Friday so I stocked up a little.

I would make sure to have some larger sizes on hand.  DS was 8lb13 and was only in NB diapers for a week and then moved up to Size 1.  In all honesty, it felt like he moved through the diaper sizes really quickly right up until he hit size 4.  We do mostly cloth (except for the odd laundry emergency day and when we're out and about), so we don't go through them very quickly and have tons of all sizes piled up in the closet for this LO.

I also got a TON of NB! I'm gonna wait to see how fast we go through them, but will probably have to exchange some for larger sizes, as pps have said. Awesome that the stores let us do that!

You might end up getting dipes from
the hospital too I think they use mostly size 1. I'd keep them for now, but don't open them in case you need to exchange. My dd used NB for 34 wks, then moved to size 1. This kiddo we are planning on cloth dipes, but I still have a pack of NB, 1, and 2 in the closet for "just in case" situations.
