By the time 2 rolls around our LOs will start having interests that they can start to verbalize. I don't want to plan a theme without his input. Maybe he will really be into a particular movie or character and I may want to incorporate that into his party.
August is our favorite month!

I haven't even finished prepping for Christmas or for this baby that is due any time. Maybe we will start planning something in May or June. Have you started?

I have a theme! Fin-tastic Bubble Guppies/Under the Sea Pool Party. Haven't purchased anything, but I have my Pinterest full of ideas. I love planning parties, what can I say :)

DS's favorite thing ever is Elmo, so before the whole Elmo being into little boys things, I was thinking we'd probably just do some kind of Elmo theme for his second birthday.

I haven't decided for sure whether we're still going to go ahead and do Elmo anyway, but since Elmo is the only things he really LOVES, it'll probably be the theme. 

 

I feel like I should already have plans made, since when July comes around I'll have a 2 year old and a 6 month old, so I don't know when I'm going to have time to plan a party! But I've been slacking on it Stick out tongue

We aren't doing a party this year. I think I have implemented a 5 year party plan, unless she otherwise begs. So we will do it for 5 years, 10 years, 15 years old, etc.

We wont be having a party this year since the twins will only be a few weeks old and I dont want all those people around them. We'll do something real small with whoever is here visiting. I think we'll be implementing the every couple of years bday parties too.

Totally agree. And another poster said they'll do something low key. This is us too. For his first birthday, we did the big sha-bang...between all our friends and their kids there were probably 50+ people around! This year for Birthday #2...it'll be a small dinner with a few close friends and cake. SO much less stress! Plus, I'll have a 2 month old by then...so maybe it'll be a pizza night!

When my older child turned 2 we had family over for dinner. It was perfect. Easy and relaxed. I think there was 14 people total. When she turned 3 we did a real party for her friends (about 10 kids came, with parents) and we hire an entertainer who sang kids songs. It was nice and it would work well for a party of many different sizes and with kids off different ages.

I never really worry too much about themes though. I get balloons in colors my kids like and don't really worry about the rest. I usually get some colored plates and table cloths but if I use just plain old white it is fine too.

We did a big 1st birthday, but we are done with birthday parties until she's in school and has friend parties.  We will be doing dinner and cake with grandparents and aunts until then

If we do, it'll be very low-key. Family/cake/presents and maybe some swimming. I don't plan on doing anything big until she's turning 3 or 4, at least.
