safe eczema remedy?

I have eczema on my hand and was told I cannot use my prescription cream, which didn't really work well anyway.

Anyone have any pregnancysafe eczema recommendations? I've seen the drug store lotions but have never tried them. Thanks!

I'm so glad you asked this question- I'm looking forward to the responses.  I have eczema on my scalp :-( so I can't even use lotion/cream on it...it kinda sucks because it always looks like I have uncontrollable dandruff.  Yuck.

I know everyone is different when I comes to eczema, but for me getting gluten out of my diet and using a homeopathic sulphur, helped clear me up ... I see a naturopath, and do a lot of all natural remedies :-). Hope you find your answer!!

My son had severe eczema and this is what the hospital for sick children told us to do:

bath every day with oilatum in the water. (Oil for dry skin)

apply glaxal base lotion after the bath/shower and again throughout the day. (In the winter use Vaseline instead to lock in the moisture)

use a humidifier in the room at night.

keep the house 19 degrees C or 66 degrees F. Wear cotton clothes. They told us that if our son got too hot it would feel like bugs crawling all over his skin.

he also had it on his scalp and we were told to shampoo every day. He did have a prescription but we used it sparingly. Although I know that wont help you since it has cortisone in it.

We just saw the specialist last week and his skin has now cleared up.  Not sure if it will work but its worth a shot! Hope you get some relief!

My prescription hand cream is kenalog in eucerin - they mix it at the pharmacy. It was the only thing that worked for my eczema (tried 5 or 6 different scripts before switching docs) & thankfully its approved for pregnancy
