Suggestions for constipation?

I have tried Colace (max dose) and it hasn't worked at all.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?  I'm going to get some prune juice and try that this afternoon.  Hopefully that will work, but if not, then I'm willing to try just about anything!

My doctor suggested warm prune juice with milk of magnesia. I did the max dose of MOM last night, and prune juice twice, and it ended up helping this morning.

Oh man, I need help here too. I've been taking three colace daily for 8 days now. Only had 1 BM since Wednesday. May need to try the MOM and prune juice.

I take 3 colace at night, but ALSO need a small cup of strong coffee in the am. If I'm missing one or the other, it's a no-go for me. If I have both, I typically will have one small BM about 20 min after the coffee, then another more productive one another 30 min to an hour after that. My fingers are crossed that it keeps working, because I am MISERABLE on the days I miss one or the other.

I will try coffee, but I haven't really had the appetite for it the past month.  And the crazy thing is that I loved coffee before I got pregnant!

Have you tried fiber supplements? I like chewable fruit ones by Fiber One; they taste like sweet tarts! Make sure if you're upping your fiber intake that you're drinking tons of water I mean a lot. Otherwise, the extra fiber will just make it worse.

Lurking from June

Try Coconut water. You can mix it in a smoothie and it definitely helped move things along.

I see a naturopath, and I added chia seeds with lots of water and it is working great!!! I also add extra magnesium (natural calm) when I get leg cramps and it helps with constipation too!!

Yes! I stir a spoonful of chia seeds into an activia every other day or so, and it definitely helps.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I tried Milk of Magnesia yesterday and it worked!  But it's good to have other ideas just in case I need to try other things.

after going almost a week without a BM and being in severe pain from it I called doc and asked what to do; they had me drink 150mL of Magnesium Citrate (yucky) which worked the next morning and now I take miralax everynight before bed and life seems to be bearable again. I expressed concerns at my last appt about becoming dependent upon the miralax but doc insisted it was perfectly safe and non-habit forming.  After taking it everynight for a month now I'm not sure I believe what he said, but he's the doc not me right lol I also switched to taking two flintstones vitamins a day instead of taking the prescription prenatal vitamins which have too much iron for my body to handle
