GMIL has possibly put a mob hit on me

Ok, not really. It's more likely to be a redneck hit. We took DD over to DH's grandparents' house yesterday for the first time. They were so sweet and so excited to meet her. GFIL kept video recording everything. GMIL takes DD and tells her that I can leave and she'll raise her. She didn't need me. Weird. Then, she pulls out a picture album with all of the pictures and letters I've sent and the invitations to my baby shower. She shows me and said, "I have all this so when you're gone, I can tell her all about you and before she was born." I didn't realize his almost 80 year old grandma was going to outlive me... That made things a little awkward.

We go back today. We also are possibly taking DSS to see his bio mom. She's off work. However, when we called to say she could have some time with him the next few days, she told us she was busy running errands today and spending Christmas, at her house mind you, with her boyfriend, her kids, and her boyfriend's dad tomorrow. She'd try to find time to see DSS, though... She didn't even suggest us bringing DSS to her house for Christmas. We aren't about to beg her to see him. We say OK and enjoy the fact that we don't have to 'share'; I just don't get her mentality.

What a weird freaking grandmother.  I'd keep my eye on her, if I were you.  Don't eat or drink anything she serves you!  And as for your stepson, I have dealt with a less than interested bio mom too.  It's a sad situation, but at least he still has family around him this Christmas who want him there and love him.  You definitely have the right attitude there!

Grandma seems like an interesting Character.

DSS is lucky to have such a loving and caring SM and Dad.  As a child of a wonderful SF I can tell you being so good to him makes all the difference... and makes dealing with a sucky mom a lot easier!  That makes me smile!

I'm sort of in love with the bizarre, passive aggressive threats on your life. Have you ever listened to Demetri Martin's standup? He's got this bit about how it's actually sort of weird and threatening to buy someone a cut flower arrangement since you pretty much just slowly watch them die. Get her a bouquet and be like, "Here you go. You're next."

This and BPaws comment made me laugh! Tonight's her Christmas dinner. I'll check in later so you all know I survived any poisoning attempts... Haha. When I was KTFU, she kept saying, "I'm so excited for this baby. They're all mine. All the babies are mine..." She's German. Maybe that's the issue.

DSS's BM said she had a few minutes today so she'll meet up with us to see him 'real quick'... Meh. I don't get how someone can not care about their LO.
