How often is LO pooping?

Got a poop question for you all - how often does your baby go? DD has not had a real poop since Tuesday. She sometimes strains and grunts like crazy and there will be nothing or a tiny piece of poo, but that's it. She is breastfed and eats solids 3 times per day. I have even given her pears and prunes, and nothing. Should I be worried? She does not act like she is bothered but it seems like a long time to not go now that she is eating real food!

I would try giving her more prunes...my LO got stopped up when we started offering solids 2x/day instead of just once. Part of that was b/c I was giving her yogurt+banana for breakfast - this week we did oatmeal instead and she has gone once a day.  But she was just like your LO for a few days and when she finally did go, she was crying b/c it hurt so much trying to push it out.

I think 3 days is the max they should go without pooping so I would call you pedi.

Try to offer water with the meals. LOs poops were getting too thick before we gave her a bit of water - like 1 oz 2x a day.

What I've been told is that frequency is not as important as consistency. If the poo is hard little pebbles, that's a problem. Otherwise I wouldn't worry too much.
