esd:I guess for me I really don't see the point. We're not doing cereal just went straight to pures. We did pures with DD and she isn't picky in the least and she never had a texture problem either. I do make my own food so I'm not sure if that makes a differnece. So I guess I'm just not sure what the benefits are.
I think the point is you don't have to make baby foods...you can just give them pieces of what you are eating. Sounds easier to me. But I can't get DH on board. (We have to give her a bath after feeding most purees anyway - that's what happens when baby wants to help with the spoon).
It's also supposed to help with hand & eye coordination. Plus it helps your LO learn what size pieces are good for them and how to move food around their mouth etc. Here's a link that breaks down alot of the benefits of it!

Do you still follow the 4 day rule in between offering new foods? My concern would be allergies/reactions to what I'm eating if I just had them something off my plate.
As for coordination, we did with DD, and will with DS, offer small bite size things like puffs that will dissolve. We just didn't start that way.
I'm not against BLW; it just seems trendy to me and I guess since we did pures with DD and she's a great eater, we'll repeat with DS. It is an interesting concept.
