Ok, so, SIL's DH is a Superbad alcoholic. She's not too far behind him. Tonight we were out at MIL's for Xmas eve dinner and, as expected, BIL is shiit faced. Normally, I could care less, because I could care less about him, but tonight...ooooh, tonight...I could have strangled him. He kept shouting at DS, "what the f", over and over and over. He has broken record syndrome when he's trashed. Then at one point he called DS a bastard and at another point he told my 14 month old DD to go to hell. Really??? You're THAT fuckked up that you don't realize your shouting profanity at babies?? SIL just tried to joke it off and told him to shut up. He didn't. She didn't make him. DH told him to cool it and he still continued. I wanted to tear his blurry eyes out but there is a long history of drama with the ILs and I just wanted to go home rather than start WWXIV with them...again. I got so upset, I just told DH that we needed to leave. And we did. I will never, ever be in the same room with that POS.

Wow. That's messed up! A drunk IL is one thing, whatever. But shouting profanities at my children totally draws a line. That's just wrong. I'm sorry you had to deal with that!

YOu are a much better person than I. I would have ripped him a new azzhole. And the ILs could have decided if they wanted to take my side, aka the side of their grand kids, or not seeing those kids again any time soon. 

Yelling at kids that age? Yeah, right. Booze face, you are lucky if I do not take your balls and wear them as a belt buckle from now on.

I would have stuck out my leg for him to trip and fall on his face or just drop kicked his azz to the floor.  I definitely would consider cutting them out of your lives for a while.  It doesn't sound like you will be missing much.
