Intro - 36 weeker

Hi ladies.  Based on my history I was pretty sure I would end up here.  I lost twins at 18 weeks my last pregnancy and then had a trans abdominal cerclage done before starting IVF again,  this pregnancy I lost one twin at 10 weeks and then besides the occasional BH everything was good until 30.5 weeks when I started contracting regularly.

I made it to 36 wheels exactly by take a ton of procardia, bedrest and 5 trips to L & D for terbalutine.  I had steroid shots when I was 30.5 weeks.

Baby lukas weighed 6lb at birth and I thought between his weight and being 36 weeks we might avoid the NICU but sadly we have not.  He was on CPAP for 3 days and then was moved to the intermediate nursery where he has been the last 4 days.  They thought he might have an infection so he has been on antiobiotics.  He is finally off IV fluids and starting to eat much better.  Luckily my supply is good so I pump around the clock since the breast is a little much right now and we just want him to gain.

He had an episode yesterday where he stopped breathing so now he s there  at least 5 more days. :(

This is exhausting especially while healing from a c-section and I am angry.  I am so thankful he is here after everything we have gone through but I just want him healthy and I am angry at my body.

I knew you ladies would understand and I think you are all amazing!!

Congratulations on baby Lukas!!! Everything your feeling is normal and so many other people on this board will tell you they have felt the same way at some point myself included, and the spell your baby had is also very common, although very frustrating, but he will mature and stop having them hopefully that one was it and be home!

Congrats! First, like pp said, everything you are feeling is normal. You are so lucky to make it as far as you did! Today marks seven weeks for us in the NICU, and we still have a ways to go. Apnea and brady spells are normal for premature babies, and while that can be frustrating in delaying your trip home, it would scare me to death if that ever happened at home, so I definitely want the docs to believe the girls are completely beyond that before we go home!

Hang in there. This will be such a drop in the bucket in terms of the joy of being with your LO once you both are home! And, I think there are perks to being completely healed from the csection before you have kiddos to take care of...but I know that doesn't make this process any easier!

Congratulations on the birth of your son. What a great weight. My youngest was big for 34w (5lbs) and she had several episodes of forgetting to breath, which is pretty normally in preemies. I had a hard time with the extended time, not knowing when she would be home (and we did the NICU with my first too!). I just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for your LO, hoping he can come home soon. Please keep us posted on his progress.

Welcome and congrats on your little guy!  I'm sorry to hear he's had some set backs.  My preemies also had lots of apnea/bradycardia episodes even near the end which set one back a few days but they ending up coming home with monitors.  The good news is that they outgrew the issue around their original due date.  Hoping you get to start BFing soon and your recovery gets easier.  I felt much better after the first week.  Take care!

Congratulations on the birth of Lukas.  Your feelings are so normal plus You have been through so so much.  Im sorry you are dealing with a longer than expected NICU stay on top of everything else.

Take things one day at a time.  Many many babies have apnea episodes and in all reality there are probably plenty of babies that have apnea episodes at home but no one realizes it because they arent on monitors.  It is great the the staff is being cautious but I know that it is so hard at the same time,

I hope you have your little boy home soon and that there are much sunnier days ahead!

On a side note, Im really happy to hear you made it to 36 weeks.  I had my daughter at 25 weeks after 4 weeks of hospital bedrest due to IC and am having a TAC in March.    It is great to hear TAC sucess stories, even though I know it hasn't been/ isnt easy right now

Welcome and congrats on the birth of your LO!

I'm sorry that he's been on antibiotics for an infection, and also had an apnea spell.  Hopefully you'll be able to spring him from the NICU very quickly and will have him home with you at last!

Welcome and congrats on that baby! Being a late term preemie is very hard. ITs all day by day. If he is doing good today, then he can go home tomorrow kinda thing. That is very hard and you can get your hopes up very easily. I understand what it's like and it sucks. Stay strong and be positive mama.

Congratulations on the birth of your son! My 36 weeker had to stay in the hospital, too. It is definitely hard and frustrating. I hope your stay is short and uneventful and that he goes home very soon!
