NIP without cover

I BF and MH gives bottles of pumped milk while I work.  I have NIP from week 1 with a nursing cover.  Well lately LO refuses to latch with anything over his head.  Has anyone NIP without a cover?  How did people react?

I am right there with you.  My DS just bucks and squirms with the cover over him.  I recently started to not use the cover when I am around my family(meaning my parents, siblings and in-laws) and NIP is my next step.  Good Luck to you!

Practice in front of a mirror so you see what other people see. I wear a tank top underneath my shirt and it turns out people don't see anything at all! When I NIP I always let LO hold a blanket so that if he gets distracted and pops off then I can cover up real fast.

DS has hated covers since day 1 and I'm not a shy person at all so it didn't make me nervous to NIP. I wear a long breastfeeding tank so I can just pull my shirt up and the nursing tank down and barely expose anything.  DS's head covers most of the boob.  I might be exposed for about 1 second while latching DS but it's no biggie.

Some people act shocked and others don't care.  If someone has a big problem with it that's THEIR problem not yours...ignore them.

I wear a nursing tank under a cardigan or zippered sweater. Then I sort of use the sweater to cover up if necessary. I don't think anyone has noticed, and if they have, they haven't given any looks or said anything.

Good luck!

I have a large chest (F cup), and have only needed to NIP twice but without a cover cuz DD hates covers.  I do around in-laws ALL the time!  It's no big deal really anymore.  More of my boob shows than most other women but come on, it's a boob...nothing to get too worked up about.

Lurker here (joining you all very soon!) but I agree that you should go for it!

I actually feel that it's really important for moms to NIP so that people are exposed to it and it becomes less taboo. I hate that breastfeeding mothers so often feel they have to hide the fact that they're feeding their child.

I have. I used a cover a few times, but hated it. No one ever noticed as far as I could tell.

I've always found a cover annoying to manage and arrange so I haven't used a cover while NIP since the beginning. I've also NIP a LOT in a wide variety of places including food courts, restaurants, middle of a corn maze, friend's parties, rest stops, the park, beach, etc. So far no comments or reactions. Admittedly I live in a pretty crunchy granola area, so I'd be surprised if I did get comments. Most of the time people don't even know what I'm doing. I've had people come up and pat my LO on the head and then figure it out.

I often keep a washcloth or something around so that I can cover up quickly if LO delatches.  Nursing tops help a lot so that my clothing covers almost everything. Gap / Old Navy makes a few, they aren't the most attractive, but they work. Alternatively, long tank tops under another shirt work well too.

I never used one with DS.  He did the same thing from the time he was tiny - pulled it off or screached! :)  I did find this one online and think I will try it this time.  It's one that goes over you and not the baby!

I EP, so not really first hand experience but I just wanted to say that I have seen women NIP and most of the time I cannot see anything or very little. And even if, you are feeding your kid not dancing on a pole. People need to get over it!

I do. I usually find a quiet area, since DD is easily distracted. I've never once had a comment and the two or three "odd" looks I've perceived have all been questionable. Maybe they were giving a little disapproving look but it might have been a strange blink or my imagination.

I've also had great success in asking people, "Do you have a quiet spot with a chair where I could feed my baby?" I've been given offices and access to private areas just by smiling and asking.

A women after my own heart. I say this all the time. People won't be comfortable until we are comfortable s d nonchalant about it. I never use a cover, try to be as discreet as possible and have never had anyone notice. It also helps to focus in baby or the family you are with. Don't look for stares and you can just assume there are none.
