I never used lotion until he was over a year, not necessarily because they recommend not to use it on newborns, but just because I didn't need to-- his skin was perfect and any lotion would have been purely for cosmetic/"smell good" reasons. He did start to develop a little eczema, so I've used several bottles of Aveeno lotions on him over the last year or so, but nothing that I feel I need to stock up on. I just kind of use them as needed, and it's not everyday.
The baby wash, however, I don't think you can have too much of. I generally like the natural wash, but I also have used various Johnson types, and have really liked them all. You won't use too much for quite a while, but I feel like I buy at least a large bottle every month. (Especially now that DS wants to "wash his own body.")
ETA: In the way of bibs, we never had to deal with excessive drool, so the only time DS had a bib on was when he was eating solids. My best friend had gifted me a 10ish pack of Ikea bibs that were plain white but outlined in different colors. I absolutely LOVED them. They were big enough that they covered his shirt and they washed really well. The velcro always seemed to stay fresh and the terry cloth never felt super worn. I did have others, like Carter's and what not, and I didn't like them as much. The velcro really wore down, and even though I washed per instructions and the same as the Ikea bibs, I felt like they shrunk and they weren't really big enough to begin with.
