Thinking about sharing LOs name prematurely...

Perhaps it's end of pregnancy impatience or the loneliness of being under travel restrictions this Christmas, but today I find myself itching to post an announcement on our family and friend's "baby watch" Facebook group divulging LOs name.

Thus far we've remained mum on the topic, both to avoid the numerous opinions, and because I'm slightly superstitious that way...but we have the cutest little photos of a gift under the tree with his name on it "love mom and dad."

WDYT: bad luck, asking for trouble, or do it? 

Merry Christmas everyone, to those of us still baking, and to those of us with beautiful babies in the hospital and at home!

don't ask for opinions at this point - i think you may regret it!

if you picked the name and you love it then they can wait.

I don't know what to tell you, but as someone who is also keeping our name a secret, I'm content to wait until the birth.  Not out of superstition or anything, just because that's when we said we'd reveal it, and I want that big reveal the day of his birth.

I wouldn't, you're so close!!  That being said we've kept baby's name a secret both times, but within the last 2 weeks each time I did cave, but only to a few people. It was enough to make me feel better but it still got to be a surprise for most!

I wouldn't. You have waited this long and baby will be here soon so you'll get to announce the joy of his arrival and his name.

We aren't sharing our name due to some rude comments received early in pregnancy about another name. I honestly just don't want to hear the opinions.

I don't think it's bad luck, but I still wouldn't do it. 

 

We're in a similar boat, we weren't sharing our list before we decided because of how outspoken and pushy my family is. Once we decided for sure (about 2 weeks ago) we talked about telling people, but after discussing it and talking with family members everyone agreed that there's a short time left and my family says they think it's fun guessing and finding out when she's born.

My dad asked me on Christmas Eve when we'd tell the names....my response: "When they're born!" It's a personal decision for sure, and no right or wrong way to do it, but DH and I really want the names to be a surprise....plus we're sooo close we can hold out a little longer. ; But if you think it would be a fun Christmas memory for your fam, and aren't worried about opinions, I'd say go for it!

Made it through the day without any announcements. Now it's just up to the little guy to make his arrival.

I don't think it's bad luck or anything, but I also have no problem sharing names so I'm probably not the best person to ask.

I do agree with others though, you're so close!  If you want it to be a surprise then just wait.  You've held out this long :)

Don't cave in! Our immediate families know the name we picked, but I only told them after DHs cousin took the name for her sons middle name. It was drama. I had only told her of all people the name not a family name just one we liked and then she used it. Middle name, but still. I didn't want everyone to think I was a copy cat. All of our friends and extended fam still don't know, and I can't wait until we get to announce it on his birthday!
