I can't pack yet

I've had several people mention to me that I need to get my bags packed for the hospital, but I can't.  I don't have enough clothes that actually fit me, let alone that are comfortable, for me to put them in a bag for the next 3 or 4 or however many weeks.  I'm not planning on being beautiful at the hospital, just wearing sweats and a few maternity shirts, but I really don't have many sweats or maternity shirts that fit me! :(  Maybe tomorrow I will get toiletries ready, but even that I need out (contacts, glasses, toothbrush....).  I was telling my doula that I think I'm going to have to do a load of laundry right before we go to the hospital just so I have clothes to take.  I think she thought I was joking, but I'm only about half kidding.  Oops.

I feel for you! I have 3 shirts and 2 pairs of leggings I wear out and about in the world and basically do laundry every day. Don't beat yourself up, I'm imagining that we'll all have lots of time to pack between when labor starts and when we need to leave. My bag is basically packed. I just shoved in some of my husband's big tshirts and some sweat pants. As a nurse, I can tell you that we don't care what patients look like :P. Just be comfortable! And don't stress yourself out about something like this. Lots of people I know went with no hospital bag and were totally fine. Good luck and happy holidays!!

I'm in the same boat! I only have 3 pairs of pants and a few shirts, so if I were to pack now I wouldn't have anything to wear! I think I'm going to start doing laundry more often for the next few weeks so that I will up my chances of having something clean to put in my bag when the time comes. Otherwise I too will be doing laundry as soon as labor starts. I did get a few things together, travel size shampoo and conditioner an extra robe and some old slippers, but thats about all I can do for now. LO's bag is packed at least! Hopefully we will get lucky and these LO's will come on a day we have clean clothes! GL!!

I don't pack until it is go time. I might get a bag started with a few thing, but almost everything I need now, contacts, glasses, toothbrush, make up, clothes etc. Pack things like pads, camera, baby blanket, outfit, nursing pads etc.. then pack the rest when it is time to leave :)

Yeah, you're not going to be running out the door at the first sign of labor. Personally, I'll just be making a list and take the time to pack when I'm getting ready to leave. Useful, especially when you use your camera daily, don't have a spare phone charger, and only have 2 pairs of pants that might fit semi-comfortably.

My bag is mostly packed but I have a list of things to throw in my bag as we are getting ready to leave for the hospital. I'm worried, FTM, I'll be in a panic and forget things if I rely on my brain!

I can't pack, as well!  I have a pair of leggings and a pair of pants that fit... a few shirts.  However, the leggings are the only ones I see myself living in postpartum, so I will also have to do laundry before I go to the hospital.

I also never pack my toiletries until the morning that I go anywhere, so that leaves the baby clothes and blankets.  Maybe the camera.

I sort of have a bag packed, but it pretty much just has things for LO and that new pack of sexy [big/huge] underwear I bought. I made a list on top of my bag of all the things I'll need to grab once I actually go into labor because I need my toiletries and I'm not buying more stuff for a max 3-4 day stay at the hospital.

I kinda have my bag packed... I am like you where I don't have a lot of clothes that I could just pack in there to wait for several weeks until we go in... however what I did do is put everything that I could in the bag (I bought travel size items, a cheap toothbrush, all the baby items, extra pads, really big and ugly underware, etc.) and now I have a list sitting on top of the bag so wen we do go into labor all I have to do is pack those few items and we can go! GL!

I gave up packing when I saw a list for THREE different bags that I MUST have during my hospital stay. My give a darn went right out the window at that time. :) I have my few baby items packed, and have a list made of what I want items I think I'll need when there. Luckily, we're 5 mins from the hospital, so MH/Family can make a few trips back there if needed.

A few random items that I do think I'll bring: tennis ball for massaging in case I have back labor (med free birth), and 2 pillows from home.

I started a bag for the baby, but literally just finished it. We have a routine cs schedule for Wednesday.

My husband and I  started packing yesterday (after 3 loads of laundry) and will finish right before we go. I've got our diaper bag with a few things for baby, a small L&D/recovery room bag, and a rolling suitcase for the hospital stay.

Seems like overkill to me, but it's nice to put my clothing, towel, pillow, etc. all in one case that rolls easily so DH can wheel it in once we get settled in our room.

I'm the same way with my own clothes.  I have maybe two shirts and one pair of pants I actually like that fit right now.  However, I did pack all the baby stuff and some travel toiletries, an extra brush I had, a toothbrush, etc.  I threw some very large men's tshirts in there that I plan on wearing after birth instead of the crummy hospital gown.  I figure I'll add a shirt and pants as I'm walking out the door, or send DH after them after the baby is born.

I am in the same boat. I've got 3 pairs of leggings and 3 tops that fit right now. I packed everything else - stuff for SO, baby, toiletries, etc. I wrote out a list of what I didn't pack - clothes to go there and home with, camera, laptop, pillow, phones/chargers, etc) and attached it to the bag so he or I can throw those in as we head out (and hopefully I've been staying ahead on laundry!) Not too worried about it, but I guess I have it easy though - our hospital is maybe 5 blocks away, and both our families live within 10 min so if we forget something they'll have no problem bringing it up for us.

I am packed what I could (e.g. snacks, bathrobe and slippers I never wear, etc) and made a list for the rest so I can finish up when I am in early labor.

You will likely spend several hours at home before heading to the hospital anyway. I was home for over 2 hours after my water broke with DS. It might be a good idea to make a packing list rather than packing your bags so that at least you don't forget anything in the hustle and bustle of early labor.

Best of luck to you for a smooth labor and delivery!

You'll only need the one going home outfit I would assume, maybe an extra shirt, nursing tops if you're BFing... just pack the minimum, you aren't going to be there long, all willing.

I packed for myself a nursing tank, a robe, a nightgown, a button down henley, slippers, and that's about it. I'll throw some toiletries in a bag when I get home from my holiday trip and some snacks and call it a day.

Baby has his going home outfit in two sizes, some hates, a few onesies and sleep sacks, lots of CDs and some wipes. Oh and his teddy bear with daddy's voice recorded on it. That's about it.

My little miracle.

With DD1, I was induced after one of my appts with no notice. I was so happy that my bag was packed so that someone could just pick it up for me it happened to be my dad who swung by the house. You never know when something may happen and you have to go pronto!

With DD, I kept a bag packed, but would still use things out of it, and then when things were washed, instead of putting them in the dresser, I'd put them back in the bag. This time I have done nothing.

With my daughter I planned a home birth and had to transfer after 25 hours and didn't have a bag packed at all. We threw a bunch of stuff together at the last minute and everything worked out fine. My daughter went home in a 3 month outfit (oops!) but other than that I had what I needed, which wasn't much. I won't be packing a bag until I at least hit 40 weeks and could potentially do it while in labor.
