Any previous WW here?

I've been on weight watchers for awhile and lost weight after my son was born. I just found out that we are expecting again and now I am wondering if I can stay on it... I'm not advocating "dieting" while pregnant, but why can't we just change the settings so our daily points are calculated like breasfeeding moms? It is 300 extra calories a day so it is the same as the average suggested extra calories for pregnancy.  Of course I am not trying to lose weight through this pregnancy, just hold myself accountable for proper portions and a balanced diet. Anyone else having the same issues? I know they don't allow you to do it while pregnant but I really don't see what the big deal is as long as it is done in a healthy way and used more as a meal tracker than a weight loss tool. My rule for myself would to be sure I meet my daily points allowance so I am sure the baby and I are getting what we need. Thoughts?

Do you know how many calories extra you need per trimester? By your third trimester you need close to 500 extra calories a day. But I would probably bring this up to your doctor as well.

I think it's important to eat healthy and control your portions. However, I'd consult with your doctor to make sure he/she is ok with this and then I'd consult with a weight watchers "coach" or whatever they're called to make sure you're doing it correctly. Or maybe your o.b. could hook you up with a nutritionist to do the same and have your insurance cover it. The only reason I suggest all that is because I'd hate for you to not get all the nutrients and calories you need to keep baby healthy and growing.

I feel like there's probably a very, very valid reason why WW doesn't allow pregnant women. It's a business. If there were a healthy way to do it, I guarantee they'd have it figured out and would happily take your money.

This. I say try and eat healthy, which I am failing miserably at, and resume WW after baby is born.

Good ideas - thank you!! My husband thought people were going to get mad at me for even bringing it up, but I didn't know if anyone else had any similar experiences. Thanks!

I love WW and swear by it! Started it about 4 years ago and kept my weight off really wel!l Until I was dealing with IF. Anyways I wouldn't stick with it while being pregnant. Remember what you learned. A lot can be applied in the sense of eating health, But I would not count points while Pregnant. You better believe when I am breastfeeding I will start back up on the breastfeeding points! GL!

With DS I asked my first DR about WW and she said that it was fine to their maintenance program. even if you are eating super healthy to maintain your current weight and not dieting, you will still gain the water, blood, baby weight necessary. you are just more aware of what you are eating if you log everything.

I have done WW in the past and had just started again the month I found out we were pregnant! I cancelled my memebership more so to save the money for the baby instead since it is rather expensive these days. I would just use your knowledge and not actually do the program. You could use one of the other food tracking apps that are free instead. I have had such food aversions and the foods I do end up eating are not great so I am sure I am over my points amount haha! I know if I were still tracking I would be feeling guiltly and I know it is more important to be eating then to not eat which is probably what would happen if I still tracked!
