We made it through our flight

LO and I flew home to visit my parents yesterday and he was such a trooper, he slept half of the first flight, and the second flight he was a bit squirmier but he did fine. I was so nervous, flying without DH isn't my first choice but I know that LO and I can do it!!

I'm having to search for a new job because our independent contractor work is starting to require travel and since H and I work for the same company we cannot both be gone so I'm looking to get back into my business field. I found a great job posting for a local business and I want to apply but it wants Quickbooks experience. I have not worked with Quickbooks - is it easy to learn?

I want to be honest with them so I won't lie but I have no doubt I can learn new programs very easy and it specifies Excel use as well and I use Excel on a daily basis. I think I fit the other qualifications but I don't want to look like an idiot applying for something I don't have experience in - but I think that it would be silly to dismiss an applicant for not knowing a program that can likely be learned quickly. I have a BBA and MBA so my qualifications are there for the other avenues.

Worst Father's Day ever!

First if all DH' Father's Day present didn't get here but that's nothing compared to the rest of it. We woke up at 5 am to the phone ringing...fil passed away this morning.
We were expecting it so DH and I had decided last week that after he passed we wouldn't go back until the funeral since its an 8 he drive so we thought we would carry on the day as planned and try to keep things as normal as possible for the kids. Not the case because DHs boss called, not knowing what had happened and asked if he could go into work on an urgent call because every one else in his department is out if town so DH had to go to work and won't be home until 8 tonight. This week did not start out well and its going to get worse before it gets better.
I feel so bad for my hubby right now!

Keeping LO away from dog water?

We're getting a dog in August. She's a gorgeous labradoodle and actually only a few classes away from being a certified therapy dog. Perfect for us!

But how the heck do I keep Lauren away from the water? She's at the crawling and exploring stage and I don't want to clean up water multiple times a day. Do I offer it to the dog often, but keep it out of reach when Lauren's awake?

The dog, Maizy, is not a puppy, she's 18 months old. So I don't necessarily need to puppy proof but dog proof.

Any tips?

How my bad week ended

Last week was a wreck for me, and want to know how it ended?

Last night, DD was trying to get away from me as I was taking her out of the tub, and she lunged forward, nose first in to the side of the tub hard enough for a good nose bleed.

I cried about as hard as DD, and maybe a little longer. Ugh.

This week WILL be better.

How long did it take you to really get the hang of things?
I started an intern position on Wednesday.
I've only been there for 3 days. I'm getting better and more confident, as in, not a ridiculous hot mess, as the days pass.
I have made a few errors naturally. Even the people working there before me made errors....
But I'm just wondering how long it should take to really get the hang of things?
I kind of feel like a complete a asometimes asking "what should I do?"
So I just figure it out myself, as I should,
But I just feel soo..... New...

XP from FB: Can you ladies help me buy a convertible car seat?

I know I'm probably the last one to buy a convertible but I need help. (FTR we have one convertible and I don't like it that much so I don't want to buy another like it.)

I am stuck between 3. As a background, we currently have the Britax Chaperone in my car and the Evenflo Symphony in DH's truck. I am between the Britax Boulevard or Pavillion (depending on color), the Maxi Cosi Pria 70 and the Diono Radian.

They all seem to have great reviews and I like them for all different reasons. If any of you have any of these 3 tell me what you love and hate about them and what you could change about them since most of you have been using convertibles for a while.

Honestly right now my 1st choice is Diono, followed by the Pria, I am just concerned with the height of the Diono. They all seem to cost the same within $20 or so.

I hate myself for this but...

DH is a HUGE NY Giants fan though so all talk of Texas/Dallas is banned in my house. What is wrong with me!?

Sore mouth?

So, I noticed a couple days ago that DD's bottom lip looked sore. Today she sounds like her throat is tight and sore and has a little red bump under her bottom lip. Anyone experience anything like this? I also think she is favoring/tending to her left ear, so here we go with that......

I gave one to LO this morning for his nap since he balls his blanket up and sleeps on it at night. The boy was out! I had to wake him up from his AM nap to make it to work on time!

How to say "No!"

Seriously... how do you do it that's effective? Tonight at dinner, DD started trying to flip her plate over and fling food everywhere, so I said No!... and she giggled. I asked her "all done," she didn't do the hand sign and tried to eat again. Then she was trying to sling food everywhere- so I of course say "no" again... more giggles. I take her out of the chair, and she is immediately trying to do one thing after another... chasing/torturing the cats, climbing on furniture, going through the dirty clothes.... I feel like all I do is say "No". I redirect her and try to get her to play with something else, but I swear she goes back to the previous thing I had just told her not to do.

So the question is, are you disciplining your child? Other than redirecting and trying to get them to do something else, how are you discouraging bad behavior?
