How long pp did you take pain killers? My lo is a week old and this is my first day by myself with her.

Hey mammas,

I will be having a RCS in December and will be getting a tubal ligation since we only want to have 2 children. I am in my early 30's. Did you feel any sharp pains while pregnant and was the RCS easier and a faster recovery than the first one?

This is my third child and both of my previous children were born vaginally, but they are recommending a c-section this time.

Okay, so I have never been this pregnant before (38 weeks today). Both of my lovely children were not small by their 37 week gestation- DS- 7lb 7oz, DD- 7lb 11oz.

This time at 36 weeks 2 days I had an ultrasound where they were measuring this baby at 8lb 6oz (for comparison... same time period measurement of my DD said she was 8lb 8 oz... born two days later at 7lb 11oz). They said they were concerned about size and wanted a repeat ultrasound at 38 weeks if I made it there. So, yesterday at 37 weeks 6 days, I had one, and she is now measuring 9lb 14 oz... so a growth of 1.5 pounds in 1.5 weeks. They are saying I should schedule a C-Section because of the risks associated with a large baby (earliest they will induce or cs is 39 weeks... so one week from today).

I feel like there is no way those estimated fetal weights can be right. Her head may be a little big (it was measuring 40 weeks) but her femur was measuring 43 (my husband is 6'4"... we have tall skinny kids). I just cant imagine its right, and yesterday I got really emotional about it when I was at the doctor's office and they said I would need to get a c-section because if I tried, she might not fit(because of shoulders) and could end in an emergency c-sect anyway which is really dangerous and could lead to oxygen deprivation for the baby.

This just feels wrong to me to not even try. My daughter (7 11) was so easy, no tearing, no anything 15 minutes of pushing. But how do I know what the right thing to do is?

And before I get flamed... I know that this is the internet, and you are not doctors, but you are moms or about to be moms, and I am just not sure what to do.

Tubal Ligation Scary Stories(this may be just a vent, lol)

I am a mother of three. On 5/10, I had my third child and a tubal ligation. I like to call myself the "Google Queen" so to speak and I trust thebump.com because it has real women with real stories about their pregnancy and parenting experiences. I had to have three c-sections and it was in my doctor's best interest to have my tubes tied because I have chronic high blood pressure where I was at risk for preclampsia for the entire pregnancy and, with my last pregnancy, I had placenta previa where the placenta covered the entire birth canal. Then, to top it all off, I had a fibroid tumor. I was not against the tubal ligation at all because I had to have a c section anyway so I thought they might as well do it while they're in there. I was definitely not against it because i feel three kids is enough. While on maternity leave, I have nothing to do but feed the kids and read about these tubes that I just had tied and everyone's sad and happy stories. My doctor informed me that it's a 1 in a million chance of a woman becoming pregnant after having the tubal ligation, but just today, I feel I have read over a million stories about different women becoming pregnant after this surgery, from after 20 years of having the surgery to a week after having the surgery. I am terrified. I am happy with my three children and do not look forward to having anymore. To add, DH has three of his own, so we have enough. I feel I need to go back to work soon before I lose my mind in google.

3 C-Sections & Tubal Ligation

On last Friday, I had my third c-section and had my tubes tide all at the same time. My doctor explained to me several times how tough my c-section was with the scar tissue (in which I didn't need him to tell me that judging from his very surprising interjections during the entire surgery). This, by far, has been the toughest recovery for me. I hadn't been able to get comfortable while trying to sleep, the cramps are horrible, and I can barely walk sometimes because my legs get swollen from not being able to lie down. My question is are there any other moms out there who have had the issue of not being able to lie on your side. When I lie on my side, it feels like everything from the front to the back below my belly button hurts like never before. I have tried to lay off the pain meds but this is the only time I can get a little relief. Someone please help me out. I just want to sleep and it's not even the baby keeping me up.

Anyone other ftm having a c section due to a "big baby"? At 36 weeks 0 days my baby measured 7lb 15oz. A c sec is scheduled for 39 weeks.

What did your Dr tell you?

I've always heard 1 year, but my BFF's surro just had BFF's babies a week ago. Surro wants to TTC again soon and HER ob said January. That seems awfully soon to me!

I'm curious because my last will be 9 when this one is born in August and I would like to have the next one closer in age.

C- Section - Postpartum Hypertension

I had a c section after a failed induction when I was one week overdue, about 2 weeks ago, the day I was supposed to be discharged my blood pressure was elevated and ended up resulting in 5 more day in the hospital (in the end the length of stay was totally unnecessary but my OB was on vacation and my care was mismanaged as a result) It's now controlled through bp meds and I'm getting low readings so I imagine i'll be weaned off soon. They said I had a very very mild case of postpartum pre e.

My OB didn't hesitate to ask when we're trying for our next LO, she said she'll just deliver me earlier and is unconcerned about me getting pregnant again. They said my pelvis is very small and that might be why LO didn't drop at all so I'm guessing it would be another section. Due to my age, we'd have to try relatively soon. I've had alot of unsolicited opinions that we should just leave well enough alone and not risk another pregnancy. Any c sectio STM with postpartum hypertension that didn't have it in the next pregnancy? i'm in the middle of it right now and am not sure I want to go through all this again.

Fainting and bathroom question...

I'm preparing for my third c-section. It's in less than two weeks. Both previous times, I fainted the first time I tried to go to the bathroom. I was with nurses so I was in pretty good hands, but it was still really unpleasant and let's just say that my pride levels dropped as fast as they could!.

I plan to ask again for advices when I'll get there, but I was wondering if you had any wisdom to share. Thanks!

How lond post-op did your "belly" hurt?

I don't remember this with my twins. Obviously my incision and the muscles around it hurt, but my entire belly area is very tender. How long did this last for you? I just posted on the BFing board that I'm in pain all over (my wrists, fingers, boobs, belly, incision, ankles). I don't expect to feel great, but I'm ready for some of the pain to go away or at least be minimal.

Hello, I'm 11 weeks PP and I haven't pain since week 2 PP until today. For some reason I feel a burning pulling sensation where my scar is. I have my baby sleeping on me right now, but I've always done that and it's never caused pain before. Is this normal?!

I am curious how many of you C-Section ladies had a failed version or opted against a version.

I am transverse at 35 weeks with an ultrasound next week to check on position (and fluid level and growth due to measuring behind) and want as much knowledge about my options as possible. Obviously, I have done actual research and talked with my OB but I was hoping for personal experiences too.

Did anyone's PP period start off with brown discharge? I have been feeling a little crampy for two day with occasional brown discharge. I'm wondering if it is my period trying to start back up. I wish it would so I can get this over with!

Stitches or Staples

Itching post c/s

I don't remember this after my c/s with my twins. My c/s was last night at 5:00 pm, a few hours later and all day today I itch like crazy. Anyone else experience this? How long does it last? I've been getting Benadryl in my IV and it hasn't seemed to help thus far.

Well ended up having my RCS early at 37 weeks. Baby girl was ready for the world! She's so perfect and itty bitty :.
5/7/13 5 lbs 11 oz 20 inches. Passed all her screenings with flying colors!
So I can't remember is there a length of time to wait till I should drive?
I'm still sore but better today. I ended up with a spinal headache and had to get a blood patch. So as of now my back hurts more then my incision.

Night sweats post c/s?

I can't remember when my night sweats stopped after DS, but I am over it this time. I'm two weeks post deliveryaand still waking up soaking wet with sweat. How long did this last for you?

It made me puke right after they put it in my iv. Did this happen to anyone else. It was gross I had to sleep with the throwup in my hair until they let me shower the next morning.

Group B Strep Test and Scheduled CS

This may seem silly, but this is my first CS (3rd delivery). My question is this, if you have a scheduled CS, do they still do the swab for GBS around 36 wks or so? It doesn't really matter, I am just curious. I know I can ask the Dr. too, but this is more fun, I can never get to half of my list of questions at my 15 minute appointments, things always come up and they end up being 45 minute ones!

Adhesions?

I am 7 months PP. A quick historyduring my csection with DS it was discovered that my bladder had adhered to my uterus from my previous csection and was cut during surgery. About 10 days ago I started having really bad pain localized in one area. My doctor thought I might be backed up so I started taking Metamucil. Now the pain is really severe. Could this be an adhesion? Called the doc but haven't heard back.
