I've posted previously about my first ultrasound being unclear an "too early to tell."

Had my 2nd ultrasound today. Because of irregular cycles, I was anywhere between 79 weeks. There has been no change since last time. No baby, no heartbeat. Nothing is there. She was surprised that I haven't had any miscarriage symptoms yet. I just have to wait it out until next week and see if things happen naturally.

So sorry to bring bad news on this holiday weekend, but wanted to let you all know I have enjoyed reading every post on this board.

I wish everyone happy and healthy pregnancies and December babies.

For Mobile bumpers: BP spiked to 154/70

It is now back down to 143/70, but that's still high. I've been taking labetalol because otherwise my BP spikes as high as it did today (sometimes worse) and I get really dizzy. My doctor says my medicine isn't working as well as they'd hoped and want to try another medication.

Is anyone else here on HBP medications and have one to suggest that's pregnancy safe? Also, sinc emy blood pressure is high naturally does that take away the risk of developing preclampsia - since it didn't start with the pregnancy? Or am I being overly hopeful and most likely to get it anyway if there isn't a change? Also, after a 24hr urine test, I've been determined to have excess protein in my urine already. I really just want to make sure my baby stays safe though.

Anyone with any similar situations or suggestions on what I should do? /:

Kirstin had stomach pains, so I put her in the tub to help relax and soothe her. BIG MISTAKE! When I went to take her out she exploded EVERYWHERE! In the tub, on my foot and a trail along the bathroom floor to the toilet.

I can usually handle a mess like this... USUALLY! I couldn't even get close to it without gagging.H heard me and came running to my rescue! He is now scrubbing the bathroom for me. Best man ever!

12 week app & Rh Negative

I had my 12 week appointment today, a little early since I didnt want to wait until after Memorial day :). It went great and to my surprise we got to see the baby AGAIN! I thought I would just hear the heartbeat, but she pulled it up on the screen I was so excited! Baby was moving so much and I saw its little fingers - so amazing! The doctor did however let me know from my last bloodtest that I was Rh negative and I would need Rhogam at 28 weeks and after birth. Although everything else was excellent today this caught me off guard. Am I the only one who didnt know my bloodtype . . . I guess I should have.

Please don't make me go to the baby names board. We are having trouble coming up with boy names. We already have a girl's name in mind. We would like to go with the Jewish tradition of naming the baby after a deceased family member, in this case my FIL. His name was Myron, not a name we're a fan of! We'd like a boy's name that starts with M, however we already have Michaels and Matthews in the family. What other M boy names do you like?

This am I was terrified because I have had bright red blood two mornings in a row I'm use to spotting, but not this colour. I got in to see a
Nurse practitioner and she sent me for a reassurance ultrasound thank God!. My little bean is more than kicking, it was littlerly jumping around in there! And this time it looked like a baby, I could see head/ hands/ legs. I cried, it was wonderful!

Words for penis and vagina.

Do you have words you use for penis and vagina instead? Like, towards your kids? My s/o was laughing the other day because I call vaginas 'hoo-hoos' or 'peeps'. That's what my mom and all my aunties call it, and it just stuck!

Am I the only one that uses weird words?! I know a lot of people use 'pee pee' which I still giggle like a teenager when I hear that.

I don't have any kid approved words for penis yet since I have no boys!

I am a pee on a stick addict even though I know I'm pregnant. I'm going crazy lol. Do your hcg levels go down farther your along. Ill be 11 weeks tomorrow and lately my hcg tests have been getting lighter is that normal.

It's fleeping amazing! I have been so rundown and gross for weeks, and yet for most of today I have been bouncing around like a jumping bean and have had ZERO issues with nausea. I've also been in a fantastic mood, which is also quite new (my poor husband and staff....) and very welcome.

I'm aware that symptoms randomly disappearing is normal. I just wanted to share the HOLY CRAP I FEEL AMAZING love. :P

Now I'm just going to remind myself every ten minutes to STAY feeling like this. hah!

Results reviewed after hospital policy limits elective inductions

This was an interesting read. I didn't know about the difference between hard stop and soft stop policies on elective induction. Actually, I thought it was the ob's call to induce and didn't think about how hospitals weigh in it. The heart of the article is at the end where they get to the numbers.

Dr. Healy's study comparing 9515 singleton births before the policy and 2641 singletons after the policy found a significant decrease of 5.9 hours in the median time to delivery (P = .002).

The cesarean section rate for elective inductions also decreased from 16% before the policy to 7% after (P = .05).

NICU admission rates decreased by a third, he said. "Before the policy, 3% of term babies got admitted to the NICU and after the policy that went down to 2%" (P = .02).

"We didn't see any increase in the stillbirth rate, which is reassuring to all of us," Dr. Healy added.

Dr. Silber's similar pre- and postpolicy comparison also found a decrease in stillbirths and NICU admissions at her hospital.

Comparing 9806 singleton deliveries before the policy and 6041 singletons after, the number of stillbirths decreased significantly from 16 to 3 ( P = .023), with a trend toward significance in the reduction of NICU admissions (from 867 to 587; P = .06).

There was no significant difference in macrosomia rates (P = .718).
Other data from the study, which has not yet been fully compiled, shows a decrease in cesarean sections as well as postpartum hemorrhage, she added.
"Previously it was seen as not detrimental to a baby to be born at 37 or 38 weeks," she said, citing reasons such as patient discomfort, physician anxiety, and convenience as reasons for inductions.

Now, she says, her hospital may actually extend its hard-stop policy further to include patients beyond 39 weeks if they have an unfavorable cervix.

"And we're even considering stopping elective inductions completely — it's just a matter of time."

Is anyone taking any sort of protein or calorie drink substitute? My Dr. told me of ViSalus shake being safe during pregnancy for a boost of vitamins and protein. And I know everyone hates women that talk about losing weight, but she also recommended some sort of calorie replacement drink, like boost or ensure to help with that.

Just wondering if any of you have taken any of these during pregnancy and if they helped. Thanks!

I have been reading posts on here for a couple of weeks and finally decided to join in! I had a miscarriage in February so I have been a little apprehensive about letting it feel real this time.

I'm 9w6d today and had an ultrasound at 7 weeks and saw the beans little heartbeat... BUT today we had our first tri appointment and heard the heartbeat on the Doppler!!! Sooo cool and I'm sooo overly excited now! Symptoms seem to be easing up now and then but now starting to get some pinched nerve/hip pains... Anyone else have experience with this?

We had our first ultrasound today and saw our baby's heartbeat for the first time. We're first time parents and today brought it all to reality!! We are so excited!!!

10 Weeks!

Someone posted yesterday that they made it to 10 weeks and felt awesome about it. (I forget who, I apolgize)

But today I'm 10 weeks and I'm feeling the same! I know it's not in the "safe zone" yet, however I just have such a better feeling now that I'm in double digits!
