XP: Baby sling?

I need advice on whether or not I should invest in a baby sling for this LO. Since I have a toddler running around I want to be able to keep baby close but also have my hands free for DS when we are out and running errands, going to the park etc. Any suggestions ? I saw a few on Amazon, but I honestly don't know if it is worth it or not.

I haven't been on the boards in a very long time but I've been lurking since Friday - when I got a faint positive. I've taken several tests since then and they've all been positive - but I still fight the urge to POAS multiple times a day. This is my fourth pregnancy. I had a MC in 2008, my DD was born in 2009, and then I had another MC in January of this year. I'm 4 weeks and 2 days so I'm due January 25, 2014. I'm 35 and I so want this PG to stick but I am pretty nervous and worried. Just thought I'd introduce myself!

Nightmares

I've been having really vivid dreams ever since I got pregnant, mostly about totally obscure things like monkeys riding mini elk in a rodeo of sorts in my backyard. But I've also had a few dreams about the baby's sex that ended up being pretty accurate. And in the past, I've dreamt about things things that actually ended up happening later, so I feel like I have somewhat of a gift in that sense [this probably sounds crazy, I know].

Well last night I had a nightmare that before a dinner with friends that we have scheduled for this Friday night, I started bleeding and cramping [I am 19 weeks, will be almost 20 by Friday]. In the dream, my mom took me to the hospital and we had a terrible experience with a rude nurse, and just as she put the u/s wand on my belly to check on baby, I woke up sobbing. Needless to say, I'm super nervous for Friday to come, in case this actually ends up happening. I have a regular OB appointment and my a/s scheduled for Friday morning, so that should make me feel better but for some reason, it doesn't. I'm actually on the verge of canceling our Friday dinner plans because of this stupid dream. I know this all sounds irrational, but I figured if anyone understands, it would be you all. Any advice or words of encouragement would be much appreciated.

First-ish Appointment...also, I want to punch my husband's manager in the face.

I made my first appointment today, but it is technically my second...because I was there so recently to do my medical and family history I was able to just talk to the nurse on the phone to confirm that everything is still the same. My appointment won't be until July 2nd, right in the middle of my 11th and 12th weeks, so it's going to be a looong wait. And they will be doing an ultrasound!

My husband's manager is being a huge pain in the butt about letting him take dr's appt leave, though. She knows that we miscarried in December and when DH asked for the morning off to go to our appt (which is 45 min away from where he works) she made a huge deal about it and said that they don't do much at the first appointment so he shouldn't be gone for that long. How about every Dr is different, plus I'm seeing a midwife, not a Dr. From what DH has told me she's one of those that thinks she knows everything about everything and apparently now has some sort of medical degree since she knows what they will be doing at my appt. I told DH that I'm about to go hormonal, pregnant b**** or her. I wish that she would just take what he says (in this case, that he needs a certain amount of time off work) and just leave it that instead of acting like we're a huge inconvenience to want to share this moment together, especially after not being able to have this moment with our first.

Prayers that DH can get the leave he needs...also, any tips on DH's getting leave for appts??

Our son was born today, May 19th, at 12:46. Labour was quite long and more painful than I expected and finally resulted in me changing plans and going with an epidural which, counter-intuitively, sped up labour and was a good decision for me. Pushing felt weird but went super fast and 25 minutes later I was holding my boy on my chest. He weighed in at 7lbs14oz and was 20inches long. We're madly in love.

Due to some stuff that has gone on lately (not on this board) I no longer feel comfortable posting pictures, but just imagine the most beautiful baby and that's pretty much him!

I haven't posted much of late on this board but I have continued to follow and add what I could when I felt it was helpful. I know the comments and support I received on this board has been invaluable to me. Many thanks to everyone and I hope you're all holding your sweet, healthy rainbow babies very soon.

Hi ladies! I'm so excited to write this post. It's been such a crazy journey and at the end of it I found my rainbow. She's amazing and I'm in awe.

Short version: Da.niella R.ae was born on 5/18 at 10:48am via c/s after a failed induction. She weighed 6lbs 11oz and was 19.5 inches long.

Loooong version: I was admitted Thursday night for an induction. Baby girl measured small all along and my doctor felt she was safer outside then in. I was not dilated at all when we started. 10:45 Thursday night cervidil was placed to help soften my cervix with a plan to start pitocin in the morning. I fell asleep around 2:30 and woke at 4:30 with menstrual cramps that were going into my back. They progressively got worse. I was having contractions approximately every 4 minutes. I was checked around 8am because of the pain I was in and was not dilated. My doctor checked me again at 11am with still no progress. He placed another cervidil and said he wasn't going to rush it. We would give it to the morning to make progress. The back labor continued all day. It was unbarable and I have a high pain tolerance. 11pm I was checked again...still shut tight. We went to cytotec and I was given a pain med so I could get some sleep. The back labor got worse. The only relief was to sit or stand and I couldn't do either because of the monitors and they needed me laying down due to the meds. I remember waking up and sitting up and falling asleep sitting up. This happened a couple of times. I finally got a few hours of sleep because they forgot to put in the second cytotec at 2am so they wore off. 6am I was checked and still no progress. DH and I discussed the night before that we would go ahead with a c/s if no progress was made by morning. My doctor came in and we all agreed that was the best way to proceed. We called our families and they started to prep. A little after 10am they brought me down to the OR, gave me a spinal and set me up. Spinal is the strangest feeling. Like really bad pins and needles. I could feel them move my legs but couldn't move them. Once we were set up they brought my husband in in scrubs and a mask. He sat next to me and patted my head. We looked in each others eyes and he told me he's smiling even though I can't see it. After what felt like 2 minutes my doctor said 'dad stand up'. DH stood and looked over the curtain as they pulled our daughter out. He told me how gorgeous and perfect she is. I started balling my eyes out. A couple of minutes later they brought her to him wrapped up and he held her and showed her to me. They took her away and I was brought to recovery. Our families were able to see her in the nursery as I waited in recovery. They finally brought her to me and I held her for the first time. Her little hand wrapped around my finger and she grabbed a hold of my heart. We are starting to get the hang of nursing, but she is a sleepy sleepy baby so it's a bit of a struggle. I'm still in the hospital, but should be home tomorrow. Thank you all for the endless love and support. My bumping will be a little restricted for a little while as she requires both hands most of the time, but I will be lurking and praying for you all.

Morning Sickness.

Is it too early for me to be having morning sickness?

The past couple times I've tried to drink milk with my breakfast, I've felt nauseous. Well this morning I almost didn't make it to the bathroom before it hit me like a ton of bricks.

When did it start for everyone else?

I've never had it with any of my other pregnancies/losses, so I am taking it as a good sign.

Everyone keeps asking me if I have felt the baby hiccup yet.. And I haven't. Which of course has my PGAL brain thinking at the very least.

Does everyone feel hiccups at some point?

When did you first start noticibg hiccups?

Her sweet baby girl was born at 10:48 am via c/s and weighed 6 lbs, 11 oz and is 19.5 in long. I'll let her share any other details with everyone, but it sounds like mom and baby are doing great.

Are 'Always Teen' ads appropriate for a pregnancy board?

There's so much wrong with this concept - I understand teenagers (<18) do get pregnant, but is a pregnancy board really the right way place to put these ads?

Secondly, last I checked, pregnant women don't use pads so. . again, I think they're missing the mark.

Maybe they're targeting parents of teens?

Does anyone else find this weird?

I just got off the phone with my MFM's office. She said the everything came back negative and looks good. She will still send the report to genetic counselor there to review but I just cried and cried on the phone (she cried too).

We've lost our last 2 DD's to Turner Syndrome but that's not a concern this time because....

It's a BOY!!!!!!!

I'm just shocked. And thrilled. And over come with joy (and a little terror).

So we got the call back this morning about our u/s, the bleeding was caused by a small sch. I did a bunch of research on it this morning but I would love to hear from any of you ladies that have had to deal with sch before. we are on pelvic rest and only light activity. Today I am still having a little bit of light brown spotting that I notice when I wipe. I am really glad we have an answer but am still a little scared. thank you all so much for you kind words and your ts and ps.

When to use Doppler?

I bought a Doppler last time around, and didn't start using it until 11 or so weeks....I could not for the life of me find the HB, figure I was doing it wrong but once I had my NT scan, I found out that the baby had stopped growing around 9 weeks which is why I couldn't ever find the HB.

I'd like to attempt to use the Doppler again at some point during this pregnancy to hopefully give me some peace of mind, but I don't know when to start trying.

I'm 7w 4d today and I know that's WAY too early, so I'm wondering around what time should I try it out....another couple of weeks? wait until after the doctor finds it on the Doppler? any other suggestions?

How far along were you when you were able to find the HB on the Doppler for the first time?

Feeling Guilty

So before my BFP I was working really hard on loosing weight. I fluctuated loosing anywhere between 10-15lbs. I was exercising 5 times a week and eating very healthy.

Well now, I still am exercising, however, I have modified my routine and do mostly walking 4 times a week now and have cut out my plank exercises. AND- eating healthy- forget about it!!!!!! I cannot eat ANY fruits or vegetables! I keep trying everyday and each time I eat a piece of fruit or vegetable I VURP (vomit and burp). I feel so terrible that I cannot eat healthy. My brain still says "oh, those look good" like the blackberries I tried to consume the other day. But alas, I ate just one and then vurped. I feel awful that I am not eating healthy :(

My hospital bag list

So I finally went over all the blogs and checklist and others advice I have and made my own list for hospital bag packing. I must admit it seems quite extensive. However we will literally be gone from our house for 2 to 4 days with no intent of returning until Dalaney and I are released. Our hospital is almost 2 hour from us.

Beta #2 Relieved!

Beta #2 was today, Monday, 15dpo and it was a 466!!!! It was 93 on Friday,12dpo. I am in complete shock! So excited. I know this is just the beginning but it is already going so much better than my first time.

Another beta Wednesday then the long wait for ultrasound. Since I am still seeing my RE, she wants to do the ultrasound at 6 weeks but I will request to somehow wait until 7 weeks. Even though this is a different pregnancy, my first pregnancy, we saw a heartbeat at 6w4d and it was gone at 8w6d only measuring 6w. So even though the one has nothing to do with the other...I still don't want to go until after that point.

Also, I have had no spotting yesterday or today so that makes me feel better. Maybe I am one that had implantation bleeding/spotting for 3 days! I am feeling very excited and hopeful at this point and that scares me! I still won't put a ticker on my page yet but maybe in a few more weeks.

Angry Vent

Everything lately has been making me furious. I was so afraid I would be one of those crazy PG women who cry at everything but instead I want to punch people. DH jokes that I'm now a crazy b*tch. I've decided I probably shouldn't be allowed to drive because there are wayyyy to many stupid people of the road and I just want to punch them all!

So today I'm ready to yell at my landlord for a bunch of little stuff that normally would annoy me but wouldn't really be a huge thing. Mostly it all centers around the fact that I'm just frustrated we don't have the money right now to buy a house or find a bigger house to rent. Problem #1 our AC wasn't working last week so they met a repair guy to fix it while DH and I were both at work. It's been working fine but last night I find out that it isn't really fixed. I guess there is a leak in the condenser (I think) and instead of fixing the leak they just recharged the system and filled it with freon. So it's working for now but will continue to leak and eventually will need to be replaced. All I can say is it better not quit working again this summer because they are going to have one very irate PG woman to deal with at that point! Reason # 2 I'm angry with the landloard. When we moved in the house had a washer and dryer so we got ride of the older set we had because we were under the impression if something went wrong with the set that is here they would fix or replace it. Well the washing machine isn't working right and when DH mentioned it to them they were basically oh well. I just pulled out our lease because I thought it included which appliances are included with the house. I was wrong it's not on our lease it was on the advertisement for the rental property which means nothing! DH is fine with buying a nice new set and while yes we technically can afford it this idea infuriates me. I'd rather have the money in savings or use it for baby related expense not this!

Sorry this got so long! There would be a PIP of some yummy chocolate but my computer and tinypic aren't getting along right now which is only making me more frustrated!

I've had very long cycles since my m/c, and have been TTA the past few months out of concern that my risk of m/c again would be higher if I did get pg. on such long cycles (87, 104, 46, and still waiting to O on cd30). However, I just don't know how much longer I can wait for my cycles to get shorter. I'm not AMA, but I'm 31 and the months are ticking away.

I guess what I'm looking for here are success stories (although please also feel free to share the other kind). Have you had long cycles and successfully gotten a BFP and healthy pregnancy? What made you decide to move forward with TTC even with long cycles?

Praying this is my baby, i have had 7 miscarriages and this is a total surprise. No iui, fertility meds and we were actually avoiding this month because i was supposed to have another uterus surgery next week. I know my chances are low but i hope i stick around for a while. i am waiting on my doctor to text me back so that i can go get my betas. i hope this is it.
