What are some ideas that you guys can think of that would be fun for a 5K? It's to support the National Alopecia Areata Foundation and its going to be called the Tortoise and the Hair run/walk and I was thinking of everyone wearing crazy wigs or hats. That's my only idea so far. I even did a 10 mile run at 14 weeks.

But now at 20 weeks, I cannot run more than 10 minutes without needing to pee, and any distance over a 5k is downright hard. So much for my usual 5k route! Also, my pace is atrocious. I walk 1/4 mile for every mile I run. I get leg/back cramps for the first 2 miles, then everything loosens up, but by then I'm about done with my workout anyway.

I know all this is normal but it's disappointing to see all this effort I put into improving my pace/distance just disappearing. I am probably only about 4-6 weeks, very early. I only ride a few times a month but was wondering from a safety standpoint whether I can keep riding? I've read wildly different things on the internet from absolutely not, to as long as you feel comfortable. Seems that perhaps the first trimester is ok due to where the fetus is sitting and then not so much afterwards in case of a fall. But not sure if the motion itself is jarring or harmful? Anyone have experience in this area or with that type of intensive exercise while pregnant? My heartrate and breathing get quite elevated while riding so I'm not sure what type of exercise that could be comparable to and I don't do any others current haha. Any guidance would be great as I am due to go next week.

I went through treatment. It worked while I was on it, but when I was done, it came back. A doctor told me to wait a few years as new treatments would be out. After getting married last year I consulted a new doctor. I was set to start treatment again, but out of pocket costs after insurance and Co pay programs were thousands a month. So, it was quite cost prohibitive.

Anyway. On to my question. Have any of you had babies with hep c? I was told a baby would not get it while in the womb, but there was a chance during birth. My blood counts are quite low and the hep doesn't cause me any issues. I feel like I'm not getting the answers I want from my doctors and I was hoping someone has been through this.

What's the difference in a jogging stroller?

Hi! I'm sure this question is asked often, but I couldn't find anything recent so I apologize if its redundant! I've been running with my 18 month old DD since Jan, but in our Britax B Agile without realizing its not really made for running : I'm planning to start training for a half and feel guilty enough that she was not as safe for the many miles I've already run, so I'm looking at a jogging stroller. I can't seem to convince DH that its a need for her safety rather than a want for my ease. What are the main differences in my Britax and a jogger? Also, any recs? I know everyone loves the BOB, but I'm looking to spend under 150 since we're talking about 2 soon and I'd hate to invest on a great jogger only to need a double a year later. FWIW, I ordered the Graco FastAction Jogger and have used it twice, but I'm not loving it could it be a learning curve with a heavier, actually made for running stroller or should I consider trying to return it? Thanks ladies!!!

5/20:Weekly Accountability Check In!

Weekly Accountability Check In!

Currently the only exercise I am doing is walking with baby, and I will wait until I get the all-clear from my doctor before I start doing anything more intense, but I'm just looking for ideas.

Thanks!

Body Pump while pregnant?

I love doing body pump and would like to continue while pregnant. I am in constant pain in my low back/pelvic area and looking for relief. Prior to getting pregnant I was fairly active, working out 3-4 Times a week and a SAHM of an almost 2 year old. I have been so sick and tired throughout that I stopped working out all together minus the occasional walk. Weather has also been a limiting factor for outdoor activities up until now. Walking is now proving to be difficult for any length of time. I see my chiropractor regularly, tried massages, have tried 4 different support belts, none worked, live on my heating pad, take warm baths (when possible with a little one), Tylenol when desperate, and have limited what I lift, child included. I am a big fan of Pilates and starting to like yoga. I am hoping to find relief through working out. Has anyone tried/used any DVD' s they would suggest? I am hoping gentle stretching and light exercise will help my pain. (Already discussed with my Dr and have the OK). Taking classes somewhere is not an option, we live to far out of town so it will have to be at home. Thanks!

Non-experienced runner ?

Hello ladie. I have been over on the january14 board but had a quick question regarding running. About a month ago I signed up for my first 5k color run in August. I'm not a runner but its something I've always wanted to do. My question is I only started conditioning for it a few weeks before i found out I was pregnant. Is it a good idea to continue? I'm pretty much following the couch 2 5k. Ay thoughts on this? I appreciate any input.

Swimming and Swim Suits

I am 11 weeks prego and an avid swimmer. I have been swimming a few times a week and hope to continue to do it throughout my pregnancy. I am just wondering if anyone has found a suit that works best for swimming laps. I can feel my normal racer-back speedo is getting tighter and I don't think it will work much longer. The maternity swim suits that are sold just will not give enough support for my growing belly (and breasts!). Any ideas?

Can you run pregnant?

I was told no running or jogging.
