Opinions on Stamford Public Schools- please share

Hi! I'm new here and hopefully will officially "belong" here later this summer when we move to North Stamford and (fingers crossed), I'm pregnant. That said, I'm hoping you all might be able to help me out with some school advice/opinions.

Most likely, we'll be moving to North Stamford later this Summer. My mother-in-law is fairly concerned about the local public schools' ratings on GreatSchools. I am really much less concerned, but to appease her worries, I thought I'd ask around to see if any of you have any direct experience with the public schools in Stamford, specifically Northeast Elementary and Turn of River middle school.

I'd really appreciate your feedback on the schools, positive or negative. I just feel like my MIL is talking to her friends who sent their kids to private schools over 20 years ago because the public schools weren't that good back then. GreatSchools rates Northeast a 5 out of 10, but, I really feel like a lot of this has to do with the fact that Stamford is a city and so you have a diverse population attending the school (something we want) and you may have non-native English speakers which might lower test scores. etc. What do you think? there is a community tag sale happening on June 1 from 9-1 in wesleyan hills in middletown. we will be putting out alot of stuff our twin boys have outgrown, toys etc...as well as some household things. there are alot of kids/babies in the area so I'm sure I won't be the only one. just wanted to help spread the word :) everyone just puts their stuff for sale on their lawn so people just drive around the neighborhood looking for who's selling its pretty fun!

I live in Simsbury, work in Hartford. I'm only about 6 weeks along but, I'm researching my butt off all things baby.

Any advice for daycares? My SIL goes to educational playcare and it seems great but, uber pricey! I know this is expensive regardless but, thought I'd get opinions.

Hello! Im a new 'to be' mom in Connecticut, just wanting to introduce myself. Im 30 years old and Im five weeks pregnant and this is my first pregnancy ever! Im hoping that all goes smooth and no miscarriages.

I recently went on a tour at the Manchester Birth Center at ECHN and am very impressed! Ill be seeing an OB there hopefully. Its a bit of a drive but they seem to cater to natural and water birth more then the other hospitals around me.

Any new expecting moms out there in my areas?

Also does anyone have experience with ECHN?

Hi this is my first post on the bump!!! After just over two years we are TTC! I am very excited! But first thing is first! I need a new doctor! I cant stand mine and I couldnt even think of 10 months of appts with this women.. So i was hoping for a little help.

I live in ansonia do not want to deliver at waterbury or st. marys personal reasons with both hospitals results in horrible outcomes for my family.

Looking at delivering at griffen. Possible somewhere in New haven but not sure.

All recommendations would be great! Male or female is fine. Just not some hot young ob thats a little werid for me.
