Pretty certain I'm getting a call back on Tuesday that I failed my3 hour glucose test. I passed it at 18 weeks. I retook it at 28 weeks this Thursday. My fasting was 102. I wont know my 3 draw results until Tuesday. My ob office wants under 95 fasting so I'm pretty sure I'm sol. My question is how common are complications with the baby if one is good at controlling their glucose levels? Coming fresh off losing a baby in September, I'm super anxious about something happening to this baby? I also work in a hospital and tend to see worst case scenarios ...help and thanks.

Help

I have the following: Celiac Disease, Lactose Intolerance, IBS with constipation, Acid Reflux, Food Allergies-beef, corn, strawberries, walnuts

Now for the fun:

Last Friday I took miralax as usual and my stomach blew up and was so distended I looked like I was about to deliver, I had horrible searing back pain and pain in my upper right quadrant right below my ribs. This cont'd all day. Then sat and sunday every time I ate I got horrible pain in my upper right quadrant and felt like I couldn't breath. Monday I called the Gastro doc because this same upper right quandrant pain happened in 2009 when I was very ill and was finally diagnosed with a severe corn allergy. She said to increase my prednisone to 20mg and start a medication called Gastrocrom which i was supposed to start at 5 weeks but I was having too many pg complications.

The Gastrocrom is for Mastocytosis which they also think I have. I started both and that day I was at least able to breath when I ate but was still in terrible pain. Tuesday every time I ate my stomach would swell and be very distended and the pain contd. Wed I was in living hell and nothing was working.

Yesterday I was in rough shape and went to the immunologist who spoke to the Gastro and off to L&D I went because not only was I having all these GI problems but I was having BH contractions as well. The Gastro met me at L&D and sent me for an u/s as well as B/W. U/S showed gallstones but they were not doing anything and b/w showed elevated inflammation markers.

Now the Gastro wants to do an endoscopy Friday to go see what is going on. She also wants to put in a feeding tube to see if she can bypass part of my stomach and see if that stops the pain when I eat. The feeding tube freaks me out because I have a horrible gag reflux.

Has anyone experienced something similiar or know someone who has? Also has anyone had an endoscopy while pg?

** Weekly Lovenox Ladies Check-in **

This check-in is for anyone dealing with clotting disorders, or for anyone doing once or twice daily shots of Lovenox, Heparin, Clexane, Fragmin, Arixtra, etc. (you are also welcome if you are on any other blood thinners - coumadin, aspirin, etc.) This is a place for us to share our frustrations, worries and triumphs.

What’s new this week? Hi and thanks, I've already learned a lot.
I am 23w5d. My ob has been monitoring my cervical length weekly since my A/S. The length has varied 18, 23, 19, 21mm, not progressively shortening. No cramping, contractions or back pain throughout. I've been on progesterone and indocin since A/S. Today the decision was made to place a pessary.... ouch. It will be removed, cleaned and replaced weekly. I was wondering if anyone has had a pessary and what your experience was like.

New to this board.

Hi everyone! I've poked around the board a bit to see how everyone is here. Sorry in advance for post errors I'm on mobile.
Today I was put on bedrest. I don't know how long. I didn't even get super clear instructions. I feel so helpless and out of control! I hate feeling like I have no control.
Basically I've been having bad and frequent contractions all week and the past 2 days didn't feel LO move at all when I had previously felt her a TON. So after the 2nd time and LD this week they want me on bedrest to see if things calm down.

Can anyone offer me words of encouragement? I'm not really sure what to think or feel and I'm stressing so bad!

Makena shots

Hi, I am going to start makena shots next week. I have a high deductible health plan that is funded by an HRA so I don't pay through the nose but I do pay up front and then get reimbursed so I am just trying to plan ahead for the initial cost.

Tell me about your SCH

I'm about 11 weeks and a few weeks ago they found a small SCH and told me to take it easy which I did- it apparently resolved itself because they didn't see it on the follow up ultrasound yesterday and baby looked great. Then last night I had a sudden rush of bleeding and went to urgent care. The doc there described the bleeding as "not terrible but a lot of bleeding"... they did another ultrasound last night and measured a new hemorrhage of 7cm and the doc described it as large. I'm on at-home bed rest for 2 weeks with an ultrasound in a week to follow up. What are your experiences with this? My bleeding has tapered off a great deal and is not accompanied by cramping or anything but is still there as I understand it can be for a while. What treatments or recommendations were you given? I had a smaller bleed with my daughter when I was around 5/6 weeks but this was completely new (and a complete shock after having a great ultrasound during the day yesterday). Thank you in advance... I hope I'm writing this in the right place- I don't post too often.

Celebrity High Risk Article

I don't know who she is, but I ran across this article tonight. It's kind of neat to see how open she is about her high risk pregnancy. I know I can relate!!! Except for the part of actually having her twins that early.

(I don't know how to make this clicky from an iPad so I made a tiny URL.)

http://tinyurl.com/preemietwins

Heart failure

I went to the cardiologist today for shortness of breath and chest pains. I was in the ER until 2 AM. Quick u/s all was well strong HB and baby's ing, no new blood seen on exam, cervix closed.
More bleeding this morning, so off to OB, they did an exam, old blood, slight bleed from cervix. So they did an u/s and tech kept shaking her head and asking me if they did an u/s in ER. She brings back MD and says they found something concerning. I see it is labeled cystic hydroma on screen . Seems I was wrong it is hydroma. And as I wait for nurse, I hear her tell another coworker it is HUGE hygroma and she hated to tell me. Which she didn't. Nobody gave me any specifics or additional info... So off to Google! And I have a perinatal appt in an hour ::sad face:: I am lucky I don't have to agonize over termination. We will either have a baby, possibly with special needs or defects, or we will have a loss. But it would be nice to get some straight talk instead of nothing because they are afraid I will start crying, according to more overheard convo!

GD tested positive

Well darn, my 3 hour test just came back positive. Quick recap. This is my 3 pregnancy but still no live births. My last pregnancy I loss my son Abraham at 21wks due to IC. 6months later I conceived again, I am currently 14wks. I had my cerclage put in on wednesday which was painless and quick. I was told i didn't need bed rest just needed to take it easy for a few days. I decided to take the remaining of the week off of work to just stay home and relax. With nothing to do at home it has created paranoia and anxiousness. I was given Indomethain for the cramping which thankfully I either havent experienced or these pills really work wonders. Today 2 days past cerclage placement and no more spotting, thank god!

Yesterday I was feeling some slight pressure with urge to pee. I am just curious if you ladies experienced that? I called the High Risk Dr on call she said she couldn't tell me if an infection was forming unless she saw me (which was impossible because it was 7pm) or i can go to the ER. I ended up in the ER and sadly left because it was way to packed and labor and deliver only see's woman 20wks and plus. So now here i am asking you ladies to please share your post cerclage experience. I guess with my hx of losing my son, every little pinch, jab or pressure freaks me out.

I really wish nothing but a safe and healthy 9months for you ladies...

mucous plug?

This might be tmi for some, but I am curious, and my ob isn't calling back. My question is this... Has anyone ever lost their mucous plug right after intercourse? I had sex with my fiance, and he did not ejaculate inside me (tmi sorry), but when I went to the bathroom right after, there was a glob of blood tinged mucous on the toilet paper. I wiped again and there was more blood tinged mucous, and again a third time, but clearer with each wipe until there was nothing. I am 37 weeks and 4 days. I also had a doctors appointment today and he checked my cervix. He said I was a fingertip length dilated but that was it. So, I figured I had weeks left. Do you ladies think that it was just irratation from intercourse and having my cervix checked? Or do you think it could be bloody show? I've had a lil bleeding before, after sex, but not in the form of mucous... Sorry for all the info, but I am getting psyched thinking it could be soon! I would appreciate any stories that resemble this situation... thank you!!

placenta previa anyone?

Hi girls. I have not been told "you are diagnosed with GD" that I recall.

On the 1 hour test I got 146 and they want 140 but I think a lot of that has to do with taking it first thing in the morning rather than afternoon. My numbers from the 3 hour test are: 98, 168, 98, and 92 with maximums desired by the practice of 95, 180, 155, and 140. I was told by the OB that because I failed the fasting number, that was good enough to fail the whole thing despite not even being close to being above normal for any other number. The nutritionist's sheet and the internet say that if at least 2 of the numbers are high then the diagnosis for GD is positive.

I am okay with testing to keep them happy and the reminders that it is good to stop work and eat (even though my busiest season will be right when the baby is due so I really should spend every moment prepping so others can know what needs done while I am gone).

My concern from the nutritionist's presentation yesterday is what it will mean for delivery and future pregnancies - that is covered in a few weeks. Of course, my question to the nutritionist was "what am I classified as if not meeting the threshold for GD"? She said that some providers are overly cautious. "Cautious" I can live with but I don't want the label if I don't meet the clinical requirements for a diagnosis. Do I have the label due to the provider being cautious or do I not have the label and instead have something else? If just them being cautious, do I need to push to ensure that it is not listed as a diagnosis on my medical record? Disclaimer: I used to audit health care records for fraud and am pretty sure that they would have to diagnose me as such in order to support the referral expense to my insurance for "treatment" unless there is something special about GD that allows extra cautious without a supporting diagnosis other than monitoring. As a friend said, some things in this world are black and white like you are either pregnant or not. Other things have gray territory like those who may be told they have prediabetes as a warning to be monitoring with the hope that it will turn around. Forever, on my medical questionnaires when it asks if I have been diagnosed with GD or any other pregnancy complication, what is the answer? And will I be subjected to the early testing next time? How might it impact my desire to have a VBAC this time? Will they want to do excessive monitoring or limit my meal choices while in the hospital? My last kid was 7.75 pounds at 39 weeks. I weighed the same when I got pregnant both times and am on track for the same gain this time as last time. The dietician said that it could simply be the particular hormones with individual pregnancies or just being a couple years older that cause GD.

Thursday Bed Rest Check In

Hi Ladies

How We holding up ?

Actually got a good stretch of sleep early this morning .

How is the weather?

Here it's cold and overcast with heavy rain clouds

Anyone had a Placenta Accreta before?

Looking for people's Placenta Accreta Stories.

My first DD was delivered via c-section due to being breech. 2nd DD had Placenta Accreta, delivered at 35 weeks. She was a success Accreta story as they knew about it and I was monitored very closley.

We really want to have one more baby (last one). We always wanted 3 children. But with having a Placenta Accreta before, i'm very likley to have another one.

Any stories out there with people who had an Accreta and then had another child?

GD means type 2 post preg?

This is my 2nd preg - I had GD with baby #1, diet controlled. I just failed my 1 hour test with baby #2 at 14 weeks, go in for the 3 hour next week. My OB is telling me if I fail the 3 hour at this point in preg (prior to 20 weeks) it is not just GD, but real type 2 diab that will continue after preg. Any one else being told the same thing???

Gd- sudden blood sugar drop.

Hi ladies. I am in my second gd pregnancy and just had a weird episode. I went to be and started to get very dizzy and light headed. I woke dh up and told him to stay away since I though I might pass out. I took my blood sugar and it was at a 38. Immediately I drank milk and grabbed a banana with peanut butter. In all my time of having gd this has NEVER happened. I had a normal dinner tonight and my sugar was around 130. I am on glyboride. Thoughts?

17P ladies ...

Hi,

I usually receive my 17P shots on Mondays, but because of Memorial Day (office closed), that won't be possible next week. So, I need to adjust my shot schedule. I've had issues with contractions on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday leading up to my shots, so I don't think it would be the best idea to wait until Tuesday. Normally, I take a prometrium pill once a day those three days.

Would you have any reservations about getting the next shot this Friday, despite having one already yesterday? My other option would be to have my husband give the shot on Monday. My OB doesn't seem to care either way.
