I think N might be shifting a bit later so I'm curious especially the few if you with early 5 or 6 am risers and early naps have you found things moving as we get closer to age 2?

I'm not going to ask WHERE everyone has gone, or WHY they have left, but I am curious, who IS still here? 20 to 30 of us ladies, max?

This board has been a ghost town on weekends, we've barely been participating in what used to be the biggest post if the week [HDBD], and my heart is breaking a little more each day when I pop on and see the same post on the top of the page that was there six hours ago.

No point to this post, just wanted to get it off my chest.

Be honest...do they work? As crunchy granola as I am, I've been too skeptical to try them. But this poor kid (and this poor mama!). No one is getting good sleep around here because she wakes up in the middle of the night sobbing, "Teeth! Teeth!" and she's constantly gnawing on her fingers during the day and telling me her teeth hurt. We're giving her medicine, but I feel bad just constantly pumping her with drugs. What say you?

I've been back on bcp's since January. I went to the ones before LO since they were fine and I never had any problems. This time around I've been spotting every month. Last month, and looks like this month too, it's basically a second AF. I pretty much got one week free last month and it SUCKED. I spoke with my doctor last month and she attributed it to me not being consistent with the time I take my pills. I missed 1 last month, but none this month. I've also been very meticulous with what time I take them. She switched me to a lower estrogen one too. We also talked about getting rid of hormonal bc and getting Paraguard since this started when I went back on bcp's. from what I've read, spotting can occur for the first few months.

Paraguard users, did you experience heavy flow spotting at first? Also, are periods wore than periods on bcp's or in general?

Last thing, we'll probably try to ttc again in a year, so this wouldn't be in for all that long. Worth getting it?

Has anyone taken LO to a bouncey gym? the one around us is called BounceU. I am not sure if Owen is too young for it, but we tried my cousins trampoline this wknd and he loved it! Any experience?

Toddler independence, or not

I know the "I can do it myself" attitude is a milestone for ~18 months. While L does attempt to do some things on her own (put on socks, zip up coat, etc), she is pretty content to let me help her after a minute or so, or to just let me do stuff for her altogether. I don't know a lot of other people with young kids, but a coworker's daughter point blank refused help with ANYthing from the age of 14 months on. I was struck by the difference the other night when L was refusing to put her own food in her mouth at dinner and wanted me to spoon feed her! It just makes me wonder how much of it is personality vs maybe she hasn't quite come into that stage yet.

Where are your LOs at with independence? What things do they insist on doing themselves or maybe refuse to do themselves that you know they are capable of? How quickly do they get frustrated when they can't do something and start asking mama to do it for them?

maybe dumb question - humidifier in summer for a cold?

N has a cold and is coughing at night. I tried raising the mattress but she moves so much I'm not sure it helps. It is already pretty humid so I'm not sure a humidifier would help -- do you use in the summer? I also use vicks though I don't notice a difference whether I do or not.

Need Recs: Outdoor ride on toy for Nana's house

N spends some time every Sunday with my folks. They live on a pretty quiet street with nice sidewalks and would love a ride on toy for N to use while there. I'm looking on Craigslist etc but haven't had much luck.

I'd like something that can grow with her a bit. She's not quite ready for a full on trike but I think soon. Something that would be okay on concrete and fairly durable.

Don't want to spend a ton but am willing to buy new if I can't find anything gently used.

DH was talking to his brother around 8:30 last night and J was still up, he apparently heard him in the background and said "What the heck is he still doing up?" DH told him that J doesn't go to bed until 9 usually and BIL went off, saying that we were stunting his growth by depriving him of sleep.

I have plenty of opinions about how he raises his 3 year old daughter, who still sleeps in their bed and demands a glass of milk every night at 2am, but I keep my mouth shut because it's what works for your family.

I also know that's just how he is, but there I was, on the iPad looking up how many hours of sleep a 1 year old is supposed to have because now he's made me feel like a bad mom. Reason number #800 we will never, ever move back home.

ETA: J sleeps 10 hours at night and takes a 2 hour nap every afternoon.

BTW: Same BIL who asked us to stay in his suite next week.
