Michigan baby shower... locations?

I have been to a variety of baby showers, Ive been to 2 showers in basements of houses, and I've been to showers held in conferance rooms of church buildings, and also one in a private room of a restaurant. Anyone from Michigan have any good ideas/venues that arent too expensive to have a shower?

It looks like you're from Detroit, so I'm assuming you mean East Michigan. If you're looking in West Michigan by any chance, I attended a very nice shower in one of the smaller rooms at Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids.

I went to a shower at the TGIFriday's in Livonia and it was really nice. They have a pretty large sectioned off area and let us bring in whatever we wanted (cake, decorations etc.).

I would check with some of the rec centers for the cities around you. I am in the same area westland/canton/livonia area and was going to have mine at one of those until my step mom offered her house (which has a wonderful backyard with tons of pretty flowers :). Also, do you know anyone who has apartments around there? Some of the more upscale apartment complexes have nice rooms to rent for showers and such. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend too. Because if you want to pay per person I can name lots of places, I just couldn't financially afford to do that.

I've been to a handful of showers at DeLucas in Westland ( I think it's Westland)  They have a nice set up and good food.  There are a ton of banquet halls.  I'm having mine at Carinos in Allen Park but I know they one one in Westland too.  I like how they're set up.  You get to pick your own menu of 4-6 different entrees so everybody gets to eat what they want and you don't get some crap wedding food @ $18.00 a plate like you would at a hall.  I know my menu is keeping at around $12.00 a person.

Funny you mention DeLuca's, that is where we had our Rehersal dinner! We didn't have it in a separate room since we reserved so late.

Check with the community rooms, rec centers and believe it or not senior centers.  I went to the senior center in Milford a few weeks back and it was extremely nice.  Full kitchen too!  It was already decorated for spring which made it nice for the hostess that had a "tea party" theme.  I think it was very inexpensive as well.  Another idea is if you do it outside...check with parks...most have pavilions.  My DD had her wedding at Greenmead in Livonia.  They have a banquet facility now.  I think it holds about 80 people.  It has a beautiful staircase.  It's not an old building but made to look old.

I would call Knight of Columbus Halls, or Lions Club, Elk Club, etc. They usually have a small room as well as a large room, typically allow outside catering, and can be really nice for reasonable prices. A few churches I know of that rent room for parties are:

United Methodist of Wayne in downtown Wayne

St. Michael's Lutheran in Wayne
