When would you?

inform your family and friends you were KU?

When would you spill the beans about your BFP IRL?

I know many are waiting and hoping for that BFP. When you finally get it, when do you think you'll let family and friends know?

technically i'll tell everyone once i hear the heartbeat (for DS i heard it by U/S at 9 weeks or so).

i voted 'after the first U/S' but technically my office doesn't do a U/S until 20 weeks.

can't wait to be dealing w/this issue!!

We kind of did it in waves...told our parents and best friends right away b/c we knew if anything happened we would need their support. Told the rest of our friends after our second appointment. Told work once hit 2nd tri.

It would hurt me to much to tell people and have something go wrong. I want some time for it to be between DH and I, so we can get more adjusted to the change and determine our stance on things (we have very opinionated people in our lives). Plus, I want to come up with a very fun way to tell our families so it may take a little while to plot something!

DH and I have talked about it, and we're likely going to wait until the 2nd tri... now I don't know if I'll be able to keep my mouth shut for that long when the time comes, but that's the current plan.

The only IRL person I plan to tell (besides my husband) is my mother. Incase I have any questions, she will know. Everyone else is waiting until I hear a HB for the first time.

After that, if something were to happen, then I have the support of everyone I know & love.

I would want to wait as long as possible, although i'm sure people would notice me not having a beer anymore and guess!  Plus DH would not be able to keep it to himself.

We plan on telling our parents, siblings, and a few close friends right away.  The rest of our family, friends, and co-workers will know after the first trimester.

H and I haven't discussed this yet, but my parents will know right away.  I don't want to tell his family and most of our friends until after the first tri.  If I can keep it from super irritating co-worker until after the baby is born I really would.

I told my mom right away (well I waited a week for mothers day) and planned to tell my immediate family and closest friends at 8 weeks. It just so happens our cruise falls on 9 weeks so they will find out then. When I return I will tell everyone else.

I'd like to tell as many people as possible in person so things change!

We'll tell our parents and siblings after we hear the heartbeat, everybody else after the first tri, if I can hide it that long.

I fixed this by telling people that I wasn't drinking while we were trying, just in case. It easily flows into why your not drinking once your KU but your friends don't know yet!

I chose other - we would tell immediate family & bff right away and then wait to tell others maybe after further confirmation or hopefully an inital early ultrasound.

1st RE appt Sept 3, 2009 - SA looks good! - CD3 Bloodwork completed on 9/20/09 looks good
HSG on 9/25/09 all clear but cervix "likes to hide" points to the right
11/23 RE consultation appt: Unexplained - Cervix is fine.
1/24 AF Arrives - IUI#1 is under way! Clomid/Repronex/Novarel/IUI
IUI completed 2/6/10 - 12.5million w/93% motility.

I plan on telling my Mom and Dad and my in-laws after the heartbeat (DH wants sooner, so we will see). I won't tell anyone else IRL until second trimester.

The debate for me is actually when to tell my boss.  As a teacher, I'll need a long-term sub and good ones are hard to find.  Also, with possible m/s, etc- it would be nice for her to know what's up.  However, I don't want to have to talk about it with her if there is an issue with the pg. She is an AMAZING secret keeper, so I am not worried about her spilling the beans... I guess I'll decide when it happens.  Big Smile

DH wants to tell everyone right away but I am going to try to make him wait until I am 8 weeks because just to make sure all is well.


TTC since 3/08, started charting 9/08
Dx: Me-PCOS, DH-SA low normal
Clomid cycles 1-3 (150mg)=BFN
IUI- 150mg Clomid+ Ovidrel= BFP!!!
Miscarriage 12-7-09 @ 8w1d

I'm sure we'll tell family & close friends fairly early.  Maybe not right away, but shortly after getting a BFP.  I'd like to keep it from most of the people I work with for as long as possible, but, unfortunately, I do xrays and use anesthesia.  So, I'd be forced to speak up rather early.

We told when we were 12 weeks, but it was not because of the "out of the danger zone" factor... we just live far from our families, and waited until Mother's Day when we were home, to tell them in person.

immediate family and our best friends will be told right away, extended family will probably be told at the first family gathering, regardless of when the U/S is, or immediate family and friends would be allowed to tell others after the first u/s.

I picked 2nd Tri. I will tell my job after the first u/s because of the nature of it. Friends and family can wait. I had a m/c before and they weren't that supportive.

As far as work goes.  I'm going to hold out as long as I can...but, I feel I will either be too excited or I will be sent on an assignment where I may come in contact w/chemicals.  Ideally though, I would like to wait until I hear a HB. 

My parents would prob know right away...and super close family or friends.  Everyone else gets the 3 mo. deal.
