Sleeplessness

I've always heard how sleepy you become when you are pregnant, but I am having the opposite direction. I haven't been able to sleep for the past week. I'm currently 6 weeks and it seems like since I found out I can't sleep. I've tried everything from taking baths, laying in relaxation yoga poses, reading, listening to soothing music, simply laying in bed forcing myself not to get up. Anyone else having these problems?

I completely understand.  I am exhausted all day but when it comes to bed time I toss and turn all night.  I heard that insomnia is a possible side effect of pregnancy too!

I think it's actually pretty common.  I also think it adds to being tired all day.  I just started last weekend to get hit w/fatigue, and still only slept decent for the 1st time last night.  Search MSN for foods that help you sleep.  DH sent it to me, and there were a lot of good suggestions to try! GL.

This has just started happening this week for me as well.  I feel like I am going to pass out all day, then I try to go to bed and I can't fall asleep.  Then I wake up at 2, then 3, etc.  I gave up at 5 this morning and jsut got up.  At least I got a work out in, which I haven't done in a month.

i can partially relate.  i am getting tired earlier in the night but i'm also waking up on my own at least 30-60 minutes before my alarm most mornings.  i think i need to just start going to sleep earlier so i can get a full night's rest even though i'm up early.

i'm still waiting for the overwhelming exhaustion to kick in.  so far i feel 100% but i know that won't last for long!

My entire first trimester has been this way. I'm tried and sleepy during the day. I have no problem falling asleep, but I'm up at least 3 times per night, and sometimes, I can't fall back asleep.

Yup, totally common and totally annoying.  I had it through the 1st pregnancy and it looks like I'm going to have it again through this one.  Just wait til you hear the comments about how its your body getting you ready to take care of a newborn, those really irked me and were totally untrue - I did get more sleep once Alyssa was born because at least after I was done in the middle of the night with her I could fall back asleep, no luck with that when pregnant!

I had the same problem and killer m/s, and my doctor told me to take a Unisom (safe during pregnancy) at night. It's amazing! I sleep SOO much better and wake up feeling fine, haven't had any morning sickness since.

I hate this!  I think I'm not even 4 weeks and since getting BFP I just can't sleep through the night at all.  Last night I even woke up at 2:30 w/my stomach growlilng so loud.  Had a little snack and still didn't fall asleep 'til after 3am.  Wtf?  I'm pretty tired most of the time, yet can still manage to get up for my morning workouts.  This makes no sense to me, hopefully my dr. can give me some tips.  I don't want to keep this up for another couple months.  I'm not good on this little sleep.  GL to you!
