Antibiotics @ 16 weeks

I just went to my primary doctor because I had a TINY cut on my finger last week that was right on a joint so it was not healing well.  Long story short it has become infected and my doctor wants to put me on antibiotics.  She had me call my OB to confirm it is "safe" and I am waiting to hear back now.  Has anyone else had to go on antibiotics during second tri and were your OB's OK with it?

I have been on amoxicillin in both 1st (uti) and 2nd (sinus infection) tri.  It's a category B, so considered safe during pregnancy.

Good to know, unfortunately I am allergic to Pennacillan so they can't give me that.  Bactrim is my Primary Doctor's first choice...

Depends on the medicine.  Most are not okay.

I've had amoxicilin and a zpak both. There are several antibiotics that are safe while preg.

Patience is a virtue!

There are other kinds they can give you that are safe during pregnancy.  You can also look them up on safefetus.com.  I'm allergic to bactrim so my choices are somewhat limited too.

I just finished a z-pack. My OB was fine with it.

I've had to have 2 Z-paks.  As long as your OB cleared it, I'm sure it will be fine.

I have been on amoxicillin twice during this pregnancy. Once duuring 1st tri and once during 2nd tri...I have never in my life had an ear infection until I got pregnant and both my OB and my primary Dr say it's safe and not shown to affect the baby.

I was on an antibiotic for a UTI a few weeks ago.  I usually get Batrium, but they gave me something else safe for pregnancy.

I was on amoxicillin for two days then put on augmentin for over a week when I had a severe ear infection. I think I was 18 weeks during that time. The ER doctors and my OB said it was fine.

See I have an upper respiratory infection confirmed by my OB and they told me to ride it out with mucinex or benadryl. I personally feel safer not taking antibiotics even though I am probably suffering more : (

Just got the call from the OB - she OK'd Bactrim.  I would rather not take anything, but if I don't cure the infection in my finger then I risk causing greater risk to me and my baby if it spreads (or so I am told).  So I am being a "good girl" and taking the meds!
