3 Tylenol PM everynight from 32 weeks on.....= OK or Harmful?

I can't help but feel like a druggy when before I go to bed, I pop my 2part PV and 2 Tylenol PM...my DH says me going into the medicine cabinet sounds like a kid digging through their Halloween candy. I've been taking Tylenol PM religiously for 2 weeks, off and on before that and now realize I NEED it every night from here on out. Not because it causes dependency...which I don't know that it does, but because I can't FREAKING sleep. I wake up every half hour on the hour and lay there for a half an hour awake.

I had my OB appt yesterday and forgot to ask, but she's the one who told me to try Tylenol PM, I just don't know if she meant try eating it like Skittles is all....

Well I think 2 is the dose recommended, but as long as you are taking one dose every night I would think it would be ok.  I take simply sleep, it's tylenol pm without the pain killers from time to time.  The nights i don't take it I suffer and I'm up like now....

My dr says the lists of meds are for when its necessary and you really need them... i havent taken anything yet for any reason, i havent slept in months haha... but ur taking pain killers that you dont actually need in order to sleep... id say its prob a good idea not to take them but im not a fan of taking any meds while pregnant so thats really just my opinion.

Tylenol PM is just Tylenol w/ Benadryl. If you're having pain  and can't sleep, I'd continue taking the PM. If you just can't sleep, then I'd try Simply Sleep like pp mentioned. I asked my OB about Tylenol PM as well; my hurts so badly that I can't fall asleep, and he said it's fine. Try sticking to only taking 2 a night - they will at least make you drowsy enough to fall asleep.

my OB said it was fine to take either Tylenol PM or Benadryl every night if I needed to.

I would take it every other night if you need it.   Almost all sleep aids have rebound insomnia when you quit and its worse insomnia than when you started.

If you aren't having any pain, then I would drop the Tylenol and just take two tablets of Benedryl.  Tylenol can be hard on your liver.  I took benedryl in the 3rd tri. and it helped me immensely.

I asked my dr. about this the other day. I was told 2 per night is ok, but don't do it every night. Every other night at the most.

When I was in the hpspital and could not sleep, for a week they gave me benedryl religously. I would drop the pain killer you do not need and switch to bendryl

If you don't need the Tylenol portion, I would switch to Simply Sleep, Benadryl, or Unisom.  If you do need the Tylenol, just take 2 (1 dose).   I had really good luck with the Unisom.

Several of my friends were prescribed Ambien for the last few weeks, so that may be something to talk to your doctor about in a while.

This. But just an FYI benadryl also stops contractions, so as you get closer you might want to switch to something else so as to not stop your progression.

seems like a lot to me. technically, no drug, tylenol or the like, has ever been proven to be 100% okay for LO. it sucks that you have a hard time sleeping! i hate that. good luck!
