DS had it. It was discovered when he was a week old. He had a kidney ultrasound at a year and he grew out of it. He had no complications from it.

Now one of his kidneys doesn't seem to be growing :( .

My DD was diagnosed around 3 months as well. We're actually off to an appt. in a few minutes for a follow-up to see how it's progressing! We see a pediatric urologist every six months or so to make sure it's not getting worse...he says they normally outgrow it by age two. She takes a low dose antibiotic (Septra) daily just to prevent further UTIs. If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM :)

Not with my son, but I had it as a child. They didn't catch it until I was nine though so I had LOTS of kindey, bladder, UT infections up until they figured out it was reflux. At nine, I had surgery to correct it. I had no problems after that. When I was pg they thought DS had it, but after lots of u/s it turned out he didn't. My children have a higher chance of having it because I did. Anyway, I'm not sure that my response helped you much, but just thought I'd let you know, my surgery wasn't bad. I have no idea if the procedure is the same these days, but for me it was not bad. I was in the hospital for a few days and had steri strips (no stitches), but recovery wasn't bad at all. Good luck with your DD!

DD was taking antibotic regularly but just had a breakthrough infection.  She has between grade 4 and 5 reflux.  I am waiting to hear back from the pediatric urologist.  Thanks for sharing ladies.  I was actually wondering if since she had a breakthrough infection if surgery was the next step or they tried somthing else first.  I just can't imagine putting her through surgery at this age.

Yes, DD was diagnosed at 12wks.  She has grade IV on the left and grade III on the right.  She's been on a daily antibiotic ever since and she hasn't had a UTI since 11wks.  Her kidneys are functioning normally and do not appear to have any damage.

My DS also has grade 4 and 5 reflux. He's on the antibiotic every day, but he has had one infection when he was 4 months old. His nephrologist still doesn't want to do surgery, he wants to give it a few years to see if he grows out of it. He is referring us to a urologist though to see if he shares the same opinion.

DD is between 2 an 3 on her left side. Right is fine.

She is on a daily antibiotic until she is old enough to tell me that it hurts when she pees. :(
