So it all started at 2am on Wednesday. I awoke to some strong contractions. I monitored them through out the day. Contractions started to become regular between 4-5 minutes apart. Called the Birthing Center Thursday afteroon, they said come on so we can check dilation. Once I got there at 11pm, I was told I was only 4cm and would have to go back home.
Well 4 hours later I called again. This time the contractions were right were they wanted to be. But thanks...I was becoming upset. My husband was also frustrated but obliged lovingly.
While back home, a couple of hours later, my plug/show appears. We go in Friday morning I had progressed to 6cm. Contractions pick up heavier than ever. I struggle to reach 8 cm. Finally after hours of labor, walking, baths, birthing balls and stools we to to 8 cm. However hours of labor, walking, baths, birthing balls and stools did not get us to 10cm. We were then advised that there was a better chance for a natural delivery in the hospital across the street. DH and I along with my mother was not happy about this decision.
So we head on over to the hospital, they give me Pitocin, I reach 10cm and begin to push, and push, and push. Baby still didn't decline low enough. So then they talked about an epidural to ease the baby and the contractions. They also stated a vacuum could assist with get the baby out of the birth canal. After check, and checks baby's head was still to far up to do the vacuum and surprise surprise now the baby is sunny side up....geesh
Now the baby's heart rate is going up. I am developing a fever. So you knew what their next option was. I stood my ground on delivering vaginally - I asked for 15 minutes of pushing, with an epidural. I have know idea how that works for some, I couldn't tell if I was pushing or just passing gas.
Baby's heart rate increased to 180. Now everyone is concerned. We opt for a c-section to protect our baby's life.
Eden Grace was born 11-21-09 at 4:47am - 8lbs, 7 ounces, 21 inches long.
We celebrated her born day and my moms birthday. We really had our hearts set on a natural birth...I endured 72 hours of labor....however GOD knows best, and Eden's health was more important.
Congrats on your baby girl!
Man, I would be PISSED about that labor, though! You did a ton of work not to have the birth you wanted.
