Pack and Play comfort?

Dh and I live in a small apartment so we are planning on using a pack and play as a co-sleeper/crib next to our bed. Do you think the mattress that comes with it (it is a little padded but firm) is good enough or we should buy something like the Naturepedic portacrib pad? Thanks!

I would say it's probably fine just as is.

Totally fine.  Have you felt crib mattresses?

We used the bassinet feature of our PNP for several mo for DS before moving him into the crib and we probably will again for this baby.

So lucky to be a SAHM to my boys: Michael (May 2006) and Ryan (May 2010)

We're planning on doing the same thing since the nursery is upstairs. I as just reading in Baby Bargains and they say that you should ignore the disclaimer on the PnP that says it shouldn't be used for sleeping, just naps b/c an infant only sleeps about 4 hours at a time and once a child is sleeping through the night they should be out of the PnP anyways.

Because of comfort issues/safety?

We use the PnP when my Ds spends the night at his grandparents houses and he's never complained about it not being comfortable. He's in a twin bed at home so if it was really that bad I would think he'd say something.
