Exposed to Shingles!?!?!

OMG! I just got a call from a  friend who was told today that he has shingles. My hubby and I were at our friends house on sat, and then diagnosed with shingles on Monday! Unfortunately, I am not immune to chicken pox, my titers have come back extremely low. We are kind of nervous. My doc is concerned, only due to my titers. I can get the immunogloblin for it, but is it safe? I searched online and have not found much info on VZIG. Im going to get the shot, or at least do whatever my doc says to do, Im just scared! We made it all this way with no issues and then we risk having chicken pox!!! AAAAarrrrggggg!!

trust your doc, if they say the immunoglobin is safe, then its better than being exposed  and not treated.
