solids--start w/ fruits or veggies?

I'm about to add fruits/veggies to DC's solid schedule.  Right now she is eating oatmeal w/ bananas (she HATED rice cereal)...but anyway, did you start with fruits or veggies?  What time of day did you first give?  What is your DC's daily feeding schedule like (including bottles)?  Thanks!

my pedi had me start with a couple orange/green veggies first and then we went to fruits.  he said that sometimes babies like the sweet fruits so much that they won't be too keen to eat the veggies if they try fruits first.

Same here, Pedi said to start with veggies so they get use to the bland taste.  Always try new foods in the morning of afternoon so you have time to watch them to make sure there is no kind of reaction to a new food.

We started with veggies after cereals too. Sweet potatoes then carrots...but to this day DS still gets reflux from carrots. It was easy to figure out since I'd feed him the veggie about an hour after his second bottle of the day.

At six or seven months we were up to two meals and 4 bottles a day. The meals would be 1/2 jar of fruit or veggie and 1 1/2 TBS of cereal. The bottles were 6oz each. He eats a little more than that now though. 3 larger meals some consisting of table food and 4 8oz bottles.

We started sweet potatoes today, will do pears next weekend.  I plan to do veggie-fruit-veggie order.  We will do some oatmeal with each one in the mornings.  DD doesn't eat too much of it right now, so we're not doing more than once a day.  I figure we might go to 2x/day in about 3 weeks, when she'll have been on solids for 4 weeks and will have a few foods to choose from.

My ped said to start with veggies because there are more textures to veggies than fruit and if you start them on sweet they might reject the veggie. We started cereal at 4.5 month and then did veggies for 5 months and now at 6 we are starting fruits. We are doing oatmeal mixed with fruit at 9am and at 6pm we are doing oatmeal followed by a veggie.

I started with cereal first and then introduced carrots and have been alternating veggies and fruits one at a time. He's had carrots, peas, apple sauce, sweet potatoes and will be getting bananas starting tomorrow. I know they say to give all veggies first before starting fruits but my little guy hasn't had a problem at all and LOVES his veggies. I always give him new foods at either breakfast or lunch. Here's his schedule ..

Breakfast ~ Cereal, fruit & bottle

Lunch ~ Veggie(s), fruit & bottle

Snack ~ Bottle

Dinner ~ Cereal, veggie(s) & fruit

Bedtime ~ Bottle

 Hope that helps :-)
