Diaper changes a BATTLE for anyone else?

I swear, you'd think someone was trying to kill her when we change her diaper! She screams and cries, kicks and tries to roll over and crawl away. This has been happening for the last three weeks and it's gettingĀ ridiculous! Anyone else go through this? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

No light yet.  She doesn't always scream now, but the legs kick everywhere.  Ugh!!

DD doesn't usually act too unhappy, but she has started thrashing and trying to get away. I suspect it will get worse before it gets better...good luck!

Welcome to my world...It's really fun when they start doing it as  you put them in the car seat! Glad to hear my little man isn't the only wackadoo out there!

LOL!  It comes and goes.  To help with the battle I have started giving him really cool toys he gets to play with ONLY during diaper changes.  This does wonders.

Half the time it's just a good thing that we both WAH because it takes both of us to change him.

But for some weird reason, if we're out and changing him at a KoalaKare station, he's completely fine with it. Twisted little freak.

Ugh...its a friggin' work out trying to change a diaper. I've moved to the play mat on the floor, for the distractions above him. Seems to be working for now.

A Nestie (can't remember who) posted a good idea about a week ago. She took a colorful can and put some toys/items in it that her baby had never seen. When she changes a diaper, she pulls one of them out of the can and it provides enough of a distraction to change the diaper. I would love to get off the floor and back to the changing pad...I might start gathering items.

DD does this.  Sometimes a neat toy will appease her.  Other times you can almost hear her scoff at my attempt to calm her right before she chucks the toy as far as her little arm is able (which is remarkable, really).  So far, it has only gotten worse.  Over the past week, it has extended to bath time.  She's happy as a clam in the tub until we try to lay her on her back.  I asked the pediatrician today and she thinks it may be a control thing.  She suggested talking to DD and telling her everything is all right, explaining what I'm doing and that she's safe.  I'll give it a try, why not?

Yes!! I am so there.

I have diapered him upside down as he crawls away. I'm getting quite good at it, actually.

I seriously wish he was big enough for Pull-Ups, because I think it would be way easier.

And snapping all the snaps on his pants? Ridiculous. I so miss summertime and the quick three snaps of a onesie. :(

I was the one with the can... the trick-oddly- for DD was to keep the can in another room, then pick it up and shake it all the way to the changing table- by the time we got there she was so excited to see what she would get that if I moved fast she was amused long enough.  THe best toys for the tin have been a coaster,a remote control, and other random things I generally spend the day keeping her from.  It is SO much better now- I had begun to think she had some kind of invisible irritation b/c my happy girl would shriek and cry at diaper changing time.  GOod luck!!

If you really want to be happy, no one can stop you.

DD has a mobile hanging over her diaper table that keeps her preoccupied for a while.  And for some reason the bottle of hand sanitizer is endlessly fascinating to her, so letting her play with that helps.

But if I'm too slow with the change, it's a lost cause.  I move her to the floor.

Oh my gosh that is my DS! He will freak out everytimg we change him at home. Only if I had a KolalaKare station it would be easy as pie!

I swear, I'd bypass the pretty little colonial oak changing table (that only gets used as a place to pile clean laundry anyway) in a heartbeat for a fold-up convenience store KoalaKare.
