C/s rates (kaiser Santa Clara)

This topic is pretty much old, but I got some new data for kaiser Santa Clara for 2011. The rate was lower than i said before, primary rate is 16% for which is quite low. Plus another 10% for women with repeat c/s. ok, i won't post anymore. It was just that te post from a week or so ago seemed to feed fear and feed into women posting about their emotions about having a c/s. it touched me to see how connected women's identities seem to be tied to their birth stories. It is such an important life event with so much meaning.

But the statistics were way off, so some of the fear can be alleviated at least with that super wrong statistic site posted.

Anyone else get updates from their ob/gyns?

That's good to know. I delivered there too and remember asking what the rate was when I was pg, I think they said it was around 40%(?) but that it was on the higher end because it's where the high-risk deliveries happen. I wonder where that original article got its data that it stated such a high number.

Yes, it's interesting. After talking to my ob/gyn about it she talked to administration. I was very impressed that she made such an effort to discuss this with high-up people and wrote to me with update. I had written an email because I'm 39 weeks along and just came down with a head cold from hubby. She let me know some things that could help.

Yeah that's impressive. I'm glad they're taking good care of you, I had a great experience there throughout my pregnancy, birth and beyond. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you! I dislike how colds (at least for me) get so much worse at night. Yesterday was day 1.5 of cold, and i was sleeping, gardening and cooking, but last night was so uncomfortable. I have a list of medicines that are safe to take during pregnancy, so I may get some tomorrow just to help sleep through the night. My jaw and throat ache a lot! I get emotional and tired when sick. :( on a positive note, her due date isn't until 29th so she may hold out long enough for this to peak, and now that we picked her name I am very focused on the next stage of actually raising a daughter. Having a name opened up daydreams for me that I had not had before, like her girl scout uniform with her name on it, learning to write her name, etc. it's a cool experience!

Congratulations!!  I just wanted to chime in how cool it is that you have a leap day EDD!  I always thought it'd be so cool to have a leap day bday :)  My bday is end of February, but I was still a whole year off of a leap year.  Anyway, lots of luck to you!
